Ross created a sales alter ego called Vanilla Thunder and enforced the name for 24 hours after closing a deal. Andy compares it to athletes who deliberately shift into character during performance, suggesting alter egos work as a tool to separate the person from the job.
The character thing. I've always done that. So then I created a character. It was Vanilla Thunder was his name. And I just said, hey, if I sell an account, I have to have everybody call me Vanilla Thunder for the next 24 hours if I sell an account. And I wouldn't answer to anything else. And so if they were in the office going, hey, great job in the account, Ross or Ross, can you come here? I would. I'd ignore them.
But you know. You know what? You know, there's actually a lesson in there. You hear this today, actually, about a lot of, like, athletes. For example, there. There's somebody on the field that is very different to the person they are off the field. And they will liter say, I go into character. When you. When you're in sales, you kind of are going into character.
Yeah.
To do your thing to go win the business. And if. If it's Vanilla Thunder, well, you do it. You do what you do to have fun and. And win some business.
