Should I Ever Shut Off My Leads?

Chad Owen and his son-in-law Caleb use deer hunting to explain why you should never stop generating leads. Like a healthy herd needs constant food and water, your sales pipeline needs consistent leads year-round, not just when you feel like selling.

How's it going guys? I'm actually here with my son in law, Caleb and pretty excited because one of the things I get to do well, actually when he asked my daughter to marry him, I couldn't tell who was more excited, was it me because.
I now have a 3,000 acre ranch to hunt on.
Or I guess it could be Mariah getting to marry the man of her dreams. And so that's a good thing.
But one thing I asked him about.
Since he's been on this ranch since.
He'S been a little kid is how do you keep the deer population going?
What's the most important thing?
So what do you think is the.
Most important thing about keeping a good deer population?
Well, Chad, you want to have three basic things. That's food, water and shelter. And for growing, well, genetic deer. To bring those genetics out, food is crucial. So whether that's on a food plot or if you're feeding corn out of a feeder, you want to keep that food form year round. But in any herd, genetics plays a huge role. You want to have good genetics. And so part of the way that you can manipulate the genetics is by culling out those that don't have desirable genetics. And so you leave the ones that you like and you take the ones that you don't. And in a few years you'll have more of the genetics that you like. And if you keep doing that, it just grows and grows and grows and expounds on itself and so makes sense.
You know, I get a lot of questions on a pretty regular basis. Do you ever shut your leads off? Do you turn them off? And I'm like, no, never. I never shut my leads off. And it kind of correlates to getting a good deer population. You know, you keep the feeders going year round because why you want the deer to know exactly when the feeder.
Is going to go off.
And so when I look at that, the leads need to go year round.
Why?
That's my feed. To get clients. That's my way to attract more people. And then on top of that, I want really good quality leads. So I want to make sure that they come in, but not just when they come in. They're really good leads, but there's certain leads we know if you're ever, if you've ever hunted, you know, there's certain deer you're just going to pass because you know they're not ready to be taken or they're not worth the time or the energy it will take to get that. And it's just like when we have.
Leads, sometimes we have to go.
I don't know if I want to spend time on that because we can't do too much to help them. And so when, when you're dealing with leads, you're dealing with a source of food, in essence, in other words, for sales, leads are a source of client base for us. And I think that's real important. Never shut your leads off. I keep them going 365 days a year, all the time. It's very consistent. My clients know exactly when my radio shows are going to be running. I constantly have feeders out on the Internet to where we have people that are constantly coming in on that. So the answer to your question is no, I would never shut my leads off. And actually being part of the annuity mastermind group, the annuity Academy mastermind group, I'll actually be able to go over different lead systems for you and show you how they work and how to make them work the best for you.
Well, the feeders went off. It's just kind of like leads coming in. The beauty of hunting is you never know when that big buck is just going to come out. Just like when you get leads, you never know what type of client you're going to get. Someone you're going to be able to help, someone you're going to be able to make a difference for. So now we get a sit and just be patient and wait and see what comes out of the brush.
I woke up at 5am, put on my camouflage, wiped off my 2:43 and fired up my dog.
Headed out to my old deer stand back in the pines. Gonna give me a 10 point buck with 11 inch hind.
Well, as I said, keep the feeders going, get the deer coming out. Just like when you keep your leads going. Kind of look at this deer like a variable annuity or a variable product. And it's the death of a variable product that just happened. So now as with this, I get to feed my family, I get to feed my friends. Just as when I take a variable product away from someone, I get to feed my family, I get to feed my friends. You have a great day. Talk to you guys later.
