What Do You Do If They CANCEL The Policy?

Chad Owen describes losing a $200,000 annuity to a free-look cancellation, then closing a $740,000 sale at his next appointment. The difference: he showed up with full attention and didn't let the chargeback kill his mindset.

Hello, Chad Owen with Annuity Agents Academy. I want to share something that happened with me today and give you a little bit of encouragement. I know our running appointments and the things we run into on a regular basis can get frustrating at times and it does for me too. But I actually had a client, I went out and helped her four different times. I wrote this policy about two weeks ago and long story short, she had a piece of property that was worth $400,000. She sold the piece of property and with half the money I was able to get her one and a half times the amount of money she was making off of that piece of property. And so she had a million dollars total in her funds and we were only using 20% in this annuity. Everything was great. She loved it. Everything appeared to go, being going perfect. And I actually delivered the policy on.
This morning. I got a call saying that she wanted to free look the policy and inside, I mean, you guys know the games that go on in your mind. Very frustrated. Internally. I'm like, man, I did everything perfect for her. Suitability wise, it was spot on. I didn't try and go for all of her money. I was just trying to meet a purpose. And she still went ahead and wanted to cancel it. Well, most agents would let that bum you out for the rest of the day. I only had one appointment today and then of course this leaving on Saturday. I'm going to be gone for, for two weeks. I'm going to Maui. I love it, no complaints there. But a lot of times it would bum you out and you go through the rest of the day kind of frustrated. I was like, you know what, I'm going to give this next appointment everything I have, just like I normally would. It doesn't matter what happened from a previous appointment or previous call. I'm going to go in there and I'm going to help this client to my best ability. Well, that turned out great. It's the second time I've actually met with this couple, super neat couple, and I was able to meet their needs. But long story short there, I was actually able to get another $740,000 annuity, just the second time meeting them once again, everything was perfect. Suitability was perfect, the needs were met, the solution to their problem was taken care of. But I didn't let that $200,000 chargeback first thing this morning bother me and frustrate me. I went into the next appointment, new slate ready to go. And now I went from a $200,000 charge back to a $740,000 sale. So keep your chin up. Don't go into the next appointment, the last appointment. Move on, move forward. Give every client you work with your undivided attention. And they deserve to have a fresh start. And they deserve all your attention. Thank you so much. You guys have a great day. We'll talk to you later.
