Chad Owen had a noon appointment cancel, leaving a gap before his 6 PM meeting. He stayed professional anyway and closed two annuity applications for $800,000 that evening. Don't let one no-show tank your mood for the next client.

Hello, Chad Owen with Annuity Agents Academy. As you guys can tell, it's really late. It's actually about 9:40 right now. And I want to share what just happened to me today. As you guys know, I'm out there with you and I ran into the same issues that you guys do. But I had an appointment at noon. It was an hour away. And I went to this, it was actually, she has a meeting with a realtor to discuss her retirement. I met with her last week. I scheduled the appointment for this week, she wrote it down and I get there at noon today and it's a no show. She totally forgot about it. She wasn't willing to come down even though she only was about 15 minutes away from where she lived. I was meeting at her workplace and I was very frustrated because I even told her, I said, do you realize I just drove an hour and 15 minutes to come and see you? My next appointment is until six. So because of this, I blocked three hours out and you didn't even show. And she's like, I'm sorry. And I said, I get that and I appreciate that. But the reality is you're a realtor, you know better than this. And it just left me frustrated. And I, and I expressed that to her. Well, Now I have six hours till my next appointment. My next appointments at 6 o', clock. Went, watched a movie, tried to shake it off, collect my thoughts. Because as you guys know, no matter what my last appointment was like, my next appointment will never know the frustrations I had from the previous appointment because I want to give them everything. So this is the first time meeting with these guys and it's Once again at 6 o', clock, first time meeting with them. Everything went perfect. The information I got from my phone call on them allowed me to pick a product that I thought would meet their needs. Long story short, after a very frustrating day, 3 hours, 3 hours, 15 minutes in the appointment, I ended up walking out with two applications for a total of $800,000. So yeah, it's going to be a long night because I have to go back to the office and I'm going to have to continue to fill out my paperwork because it's going to require medallion signature. So I'm going to have to go back. I probably won't get done with that until probably 11:15, 11:30, because I won't be home for another, let's say 50 minutes and then I have to get up at 4:30 in the morning. I actually have to be at the airport at 4:30. In the morning because I'm getting ready to go to business conference.
Was it worth it? Absolutely. Would have been worth it if it was only a hundred thousand dollar deal. Yes. Because I made a lady that was very stressed about retirement, a guy that was very unhappy with his broker, and now they're incredibly content and satisfied with what I'm going to put them into and it was all worth it. But it ended up being $800,000. So I went from a frustrating beginning where I had a no show to now a very successful day. So I want to encourage you, Gu.
Never allow your emotions to tear you down. Never allow your frustrations to affect how your next appointment is. Always make sure you give 100% every appointment. Your clients deserve that. And as you know, I work long days just like you, Tuesday through Thursday. It can be very, very long days, but it's worth it because we get to do this. I love the industry we're in and one of the things, like I said, I got to tell my client is you never have to worry about market volatility again, which was very, very reassuring to them and they're very comfortable with this. So I thank you so much for your time. Have a great day. We'll talk to you soon.
