6 Signs to Know If YOU'RE A THIRSTY CHICK! IS THIS YOU?

April Mason identifies six signs of desperate dating: constant availability, buying gifts to prove yourself, stalking his social media, making excuses for him, always initiating contact, and settling for casual arrangements. Each one tanks your self-respect and signals you don't value yourself. Set boundaries instead and let him pursue you.

Hey everyone, this is April Mason, founder of Single No More: Position Yourself to Be Found, and I just pulled up to my office as I go in to get ready for my new release, my new book, my sophomore book, Single No More: You Can't Have It All: The Single Woman's Guide to Having the Business and the Boo. And as I sat here, I wanted to do a video for you because I've been hearing some strange things, and it's kind of like, wait a minute, ladies, we doing too much for the sake of having a man. So I want to give you my few keys and to know if you are a desperate woman. This will let you know— what I'm going to give you is getting ready to let you know if you fall in the category of a desperate woman. Number 1, you're always available. Girl, stop rearranging your schedule around a man that really is not that into you, but just in case he calls or texts, you will rearrange your schedule and you're always available. I'mma tell you something, If a guy texts you or calls you around 9:30, 10 o'clock at night wanting you to go out or say, oh, you know, I got tickets to a concert or something like that, I just want to let you know you're his second or third choice. Men that are into you, they make plans with you. So I'm just saying, don't get excited because you got the call. Look at when you got the call, and it was all— if it's a last-minute type deal and he has not been communicating with you and all of a sudden you just hear from him That's because he just needs a date or somebody on his arm for the night. So please don't feel extra special. Number 2, stop buying these men gifts trying to show them that you're a good woman and you can take care of them. Stop all of that. Men are the givers. Let them do what they do. It's okay when you're in a relationship and you guys have become exclusive to do little nice things, but let a man be a man. Stop taking, taking away what they do, what they want to do. Yes, we like stuff, fellas. Yes, we like gifts and flowers and jewelry and all of that. Ladies, stop doing that. Stop trying to buy him. If that's not your man, it's not up to you to hear what he's— you know how we do, we hear what somebody is saying in general conversation that they would want and then we go out and buy it. Uh-uh, stop that. If that's not your man, you don't need to be doing that because now it makes you look desperate, like you're trying to buy his affection. Put your purse, your pocketbook back in your wallet— I mean, back in your purse. And call it a day. Keep your money because you can't buy him. He gonna say thank you, he gonna take your stuff, but that doesn't mean he want to be with you. Next one: stop stalking his social media pages, trying to rearrange your schedule to find— to see if you can find out where he gonna be so you can be there too. I mean, even down to the point of creating fake Facebook profiles, Twitter profiles, MySpace profiles, LinkedIn, just so you can keep up with him. If he's not interested or if he's not contacting you, why are you so obsessed with a guy that's not even giving you the time of day? So don't get upset when you see pictures of him and another girl or places that he's been because he didn't take you, because all it's going to do— it's actually not good for you emotionally because now you wonder, what was that about me? Why couldn't he take me? What's wrong with me? Am I not good enough? Blah blah blah. Are you gonna do all of this different stuff? And so you're causing your own psychological issues. You're doing that. Nobody's doing that. He's not doing that. You're watching and stalking and getting upset and getting offended and all of this stuff. And then you're now questioning yourself, am I not good enough? And you know, what's— what she got that I don't have? And all of this unnecessary stuff. Go where you want it and appreciate it, not where you're somebody's option, baby. All right, the next one is you make yourself believe that he's into you. Even though he doesn't contact you. So you guys might have had a couple conversations or whatnot, and you really feeling him. It's like, oh yeah, he could be the one, he's a good guy, all of these different wonderful things. But he doesn't communicate with you but once every 2 weeks. So what you do is you make excuses for him and say, you know what, he's so busy, he in and out of town, you know, he working, and all of these different things. When, honey, there is nothing on God's green earth that will stop a man from getting you. I don't care how busy his schedule is, he will contact you. So stop making excuses for him and just realize he's just not that into you and move on to someone that is. So stop playing mind games with yourself, baby. He don't want you. The next one would be always initiating cell phone calls or phone calls and text messages. A dude that is into you will call you, he will text you, he will even return your text messages. But if you look at it and you're always the one initiating— good morning, oh hey handsome, I hope you have a blessed day, oh you just, you know, you're just some awesome 'And blah blah blah blah,' and you just sending him these encouraging messages trying to, you know, show that you care about his well-being. Girl, stop it. You making yourself look real stupid because all he's gonna tell you is thank you, if he says that. But that doesn't make you look like, you know, 'Well, that's somebody I need to be with, you know. You know, she good, she encourages me every day.' No, he's gonna say thank you and he gonna keep it moving. So quit being the one to initiate all the time, especially when they're not reciprocating. A man that wants you will communicate with you, and he will make time for you. I don't care how busy his schedule is, he will make time for you. Um, and the last one is stop dropping your standard to be with a dude. First it was, I am looking for a husband and I'm okay with that. I have came up, you know, in my mind that I am ready to settle down and be married and be booed up. But then a guy comes along and he's not all the way what you're looking for. He's not looking for what you're looking for, but he's cool people. So you settle with being the chick on the side, the friends with benefit, or the sideline. Keep your standards where they are. If you're not, if you're not looking to be somebody's booty call, somebody's, um, side chick or whatever, don't date dudes that aren't looking for the same thing you're looking for. If you're looking for a husband, you're looking for a serious relationship, only date guys that are looking for the same thing you're looking for. And then don't get mad if they don't give you what you want because you done caught feelings. That's desperate, ladies. You— what that means, you're willing to accept anything just to have somebody. Initially you said, God, I want a husband. That's what you said. But you get caught up and now it's, well, you know, I'ma show him I'm a good woman and everything like that, you know. And, um, he gonna like me because I'ma show him, because I'ma buy him stuff, I'ma send him encouraging text messages, I'ma always be available, um, to him when he needs me to let him know that I'm there for him. Child, please get that joker a challenge. Let him know you got things to do. Mark him— don't pencil him in on your schedule. Don't pin him in, because pin makes things permanent. Because, you know, pencil him in just in case you got to erase it because you got something else to do, something more pressing came up. Give him— give him something to chase. And if he's not chasing, that just means he's not into you. And I don't care how you play it in your mind of You know, but me and him, we make such a great couple, and I could just be this for him, and I could be that for him. Apparently, baby, he don't see it. And that's okay, because what you did was yourself a favor. Go where you're wanted and appreciated, not where you're tolerated or where you're somebody's options. And by all means, by all means, keep your standard where it needs to be. So as a recap, stop being so available and do not rearrange your schedule, um, around his just in case he calls. It's almost like insurance, you know. We got insurance on our cars just in case we get an accident. And most of them probably will never get in an accident, just like he probably will never call you. So do not rearrange your schedule. Stop buying these jokers gifts. All he's gonna do is say thank you. And actually, to be honest with you, probably talking to you about his boy. Hey dude, I got this, I got that. Hey, where you get that from? Oh, this chick that, you know, she kind of feeling me, but you know, she ain't really somebody I'm interested in, but I appreciate the gift. The next one is stalking his Facebook, his Twitter, and all his social media just to find out where he's going to be so you can show up to find out what's going on in his life. And all you're doing is torturing yourself, especially if he talks about another woman or sees— you see him with another woman. All you're doing is hurting yourself. You might stop making yourself believe that he's into you even though he doesn't call you, and stop making excuses for him. Once again, a man that wants you will make time for you. Stop being the one to initiate phone calls. You don't call him, let him call you. Let him send you a text message to see, hey, how is your day going? Then you proceed. But if you're the one always initiating, that mean he ain't thinking about you, girl. I'm just trying to be keeping it 100 with you and trying to be your friend and let you know, because sometimes your friends won't let you know, but I'm that girlfriend that's gonna let you know. Stop it already. Cut it out. And the last one is stop dropping your standard. If you want to be somebody's boo, somebody's wife, somebody's first-round draft pick, you will never be able to do that if you accept for being the booty call, the friends will benefit, the in the meantime chick, the fun girl. You'll never, ever, ever be able to get a man that will respect and care and even want to wife you like that. So, this is April Mason with Single No More.
