Asset Tip: So you want things to be perfect huh? Watch this

April Mason shares how perfectionism kills progress. She launched a gift-basket business with $50 and a cheesy ebook that made thousands, then wrote a business-credit guide with modest presentation that led to speaking gigs. Start imperfect now, not when conditions are perfect.

Hey everybody, it's April Mason and this is your asset tip for the day. Perfection. Perfection is the killer of dreams. Have you ever thought about why you procrastinate and you say you're going to do things or every year you make the same New Year's resolutions that things are going to be different, I'm going to change this, I'm going to do this, I'm going to do that, I'm going to do this, I'm going to do that, but you don't do it. Why? Because a lot of times we're waiting for things to be perfect and we overthink it and outthink ourselves. So my challenge to you today is to stop overthinking and just do it. Launch out into the deep. Everything doesn't have to be perfect in order for it to be— for you to start. I remember when I started my gift basket business, for those of you know the story, $50 from my welfare check, started my gift basket business, and I didn't have any money, so I ended up making my own flyers out of, you know, Word templates and what do you call it, going to Staples and having them bind them. But I made thousands of dollars off that cheesy-looking ebook that I used Word to create. So my challenge to you is to stop waiting for everything to be perfect, because it won't. I promise you, even when you think it's perfect, you're gonna find something that's not perfect about it. I remember when I started doing business credit, my business credit book, how to use business credit to finance your business without using personal credit. I wrote that N-word once again and traveled all over this country and got booked for all kinds of speaking engagements off of that cheesy-looking book. Well, when the money starts flowing in, started flowing in, I started to do better. I was able to hire graphic designers to help me you know, look more polished. But just launch out into the deep. A lot of things that you're— what you're watching other people do, I promise you, they started from the bottom too. They started from the ground up. So if everything isn't perfect, you don't have everything, all the ducks lined up in a row, so what? It's only a failure because you did not launch out into the deep. You can guarantee failure when you don't launch out. So make sure you don't let perfection guide you and usher you over there into procrastination. And so now this year, now that we have, uh, less than 90 days until the you're gonna be, "Oh yeah, it's my season, it's my time, you know, 2015 is gonna be my year." No, it's not if you continue to wait on everything to be perfect and you continue to wait on things to fall in line. Just launch out there into the deep and see what happens. You just might be more successful than you think you are. This is April Mason with your asset tip, so I'll check you later.
