Two women debate whether to ask a man where a relationship is headed. One says ask directly. The other says watch his actions instead: his consistency, ambition, whether his words match what he does. If you have to ask, she argues, he's probably not that interested.
If I wasn't sure if he was interested in me or I wasn't sure if there was anything long-term, I think I would just ask him.
I wouldn't spiral in my own thoughts of does he like me, does he not, does he like me? I would just be like, hey, where's this going?
Yeah, I would never ask that.
Oh, okay, push back, tell me why. Why is that bad?
I wouldn't ask that because I watch how men move in their day-to-day lives, especially when they're ambitious, successful men. They can go after everything else in their life with vigor and they know exactly what they want. It doesn't change when they get to a woman. Ah, so you're saying you would know, so you shouldn't have to ask. I would know because his actions, his patterns, his consistency, his efforts, and his words would all line up to let me know that I wouldn't have to guess. If I have to guess, for me, it's a no. Typically, women have these conversations when they are more invested in the man than the man is invested in them. But if you really look at all of the men that you did not want, they constantly came toward you even when you rejected them. So why would I have to try to figure it out for a man that's supposedly like me?
