What are you willing to sacrifice to get to your next level?

In this YouTube sermon, April Mason reflects on a recent social‑media poll where the overwhelming majority of her faith‑based audience asked for prayer about finances. She argues that Scripture (e.g., Deuteronomy 8:18, Proverbs 14:23) already affirms God’s provision of wealth, so continual prayer for money without action reflects a spiritualized view of material needs. Mason urges listeners to adopt a work ethic, make concrete sacrifices, and invest in personal development rather than expecting money to fall from the sky. She challenges viewers to examine daily expenses (coffee, luxury items, entertainment) and consider selling or pawning assets to fund education, coaching, or business ventures. She also advises cutting off relationships and habits that hinder progress, and shifting prayer focus from “give me money” to “give me ideas, wisdom, and resources.” Throughout, she uses biblical anecdotes (Moses, Jesus paying taxes) to illustrate practical obedience. The talk concludes with a strong call‑to‑action: share the video, follow her on social media, and commit to using “what’s in your hand” to pursue a higher purpose, such as opening a transitional home for single mothers.

Hey everyone, it's April Mason here and I hope I found you doing wonderful on today. Listen, there's a few things that I want to cover today, give you a few words of wisdom as well as some nuggets that I hope you can use and take along on your journey. About 2 weeks ago, I asked on Facebook and across my social media platform, maybe about between about 30,000 to 50,000 people. I asked, what are 3 things that I can pray for you for? Because my church, we were doing the Daniel Fast, and one of the instructions were to ask people what 3 things can you pray for them about. And I put it on Facebook asking, and Twitter, and Instagram, and a couple other places, wanting to know what is it that you need prayer about? What's, what's on your mind? What's on your heart? And I would say about 95% of the people, I would even say 98% of the people who responded they had one thing in common out of the three, and it was finances. Pray for my finances. And I heard that so much. Pray for my finances. Pray for my finances. And it got me to thinking. Number one, my audience is mainly a faith-based audience. And one of the things that I've noticed, even as a Christian myself and amongst a lot of Christians, one of the things that I've noticed is that sometimes as believers we have a hard time believing. The scripture says in Deuteronomy 8:18 that God has given you the power to get wealth. Now you're asking for prayer for your finances, but God has already told you he's giving you the power to get wealth. I know you say, April, you always talking about finances and getting out of poverty. And the reason why that's my area, that's the area that God has given me to empower others in, is because One of the main things that keep people from living the life that they want to live, from giving the way that they want to give, from sowing the way that they want to sow, from being a blessing to others, is because of the lack of money. Sometimes we don't trust and believe in what God's word says because our finances isn't right. It's like, God, how is it? How can I trust and believe when, you know, the kids need something to eat? How can I trust and believe when I just lost my job? It's all hinged around finances. We need finances to do kingdom work. You seek the kingdom first. No, you are not ruled by money. However, it takes money to run the world and to do the wonderful things that you want to do to be a blessing. I have a lot that I would love to do when it comes to opening up a transitional home for single moms with children. That's my biggest desire, you know, one of the biggest desires of my heart. But it takes finances to do that. We have to stop acting like things are so mystical and, you know, a bag of money is just going to fall out of the sky one day and say, bam, there you go. No, it doesn't work that way. There's some things that you must do. Over in, I think it's Proverbs 14:23, it says something, I'm paraphrasing here, like a prophet is, you gain profit from your labor, meaning from what you do. So if you're asking for prayer for your finances, my question to you is, what are you willing to do to make that happen for you? Sometimes we have to stop making spiritual things natural and natural things spiritual. Even Jesus told one of his disciples to get out of the fish's mouth you know, the money to pay the taxes. That wasn't a spiritual thing. That was bottom line. The taxes need to be paid. So what are you willing to do today? I think we've gotten so spiritualized that it's my season, it's my time, and things are just gonna fall out of the sky that we have lost work ethic. Scripture says ask, knock, and seek. Over in Exodus 4:2, for those of you that have been following me for years, you know I use that scripture where God asked Moses, what's in your hand? And Moses had a rod in his hand. And Moses, when God said throw it down and it turned into a serpent. Moses, Moses ran. I say that to tell you, are you afraid of the success of what you have? Think about it. A lot of people are afraid of success, afraid of failure, or just afraid just to be afraid. But Moses ran away from the very thing that went on to free millions of people. Are you running away from your greatness? Are you running away from the thing that God has placed in your hand? Think about that. And my other thing I wanted to talk about today is sacrifice. What are you willing to sacrifice to get what you need? Do you really need to have that Starbucks every day? No shade on Starbucks, but you— we're trying to talk about budget here. Do you really need that $250+ weave that you're buying, but yet you don't have $250 in your bank account or your savings account, or if something happens to your car, you don't have $250 to pay for it. Do you really need those new pair of shoes? Do you really need the latest video game? Do you really need all of the fast food and going out to eat every night or every day? Do you really need those things? What are you willing to sacrifice? You know, I find that people will invest— or, well, not invest, but people will spend $100 on something that would depreciate, but they will not spend $100 on knowledge and investing in themselves to get better so they can be what I call an asset. Ladies, you know I'm big on being an asset. Bring something to the table other than your appetite. Yet we will spend money— I won't say we because I don't do that, but I was a person that did that. I would invest time watching TV and reality shows. Those people are already making their money. No shade on them. Go get it, do what you got to do. But at the same time, where are you? You spend all of these hours of day, um, idle, being idle. How many times do you check Facebook, yet you won't do research on the internet to find out how to find and discover your purpose? You won't invest in a life coach, but you will invest in, uh, going to the movies. Come on, people, where are your priorities? You spend so much time doing idle things that will not really benefit you at all. But yet, you know, you know the latest information that's online, you know, you know the latest information on who's doing what in celebrity world on the gossip blogs. Think about that. What are you willing to sacrifice? Are you willing to go pawn or sell whatever you have to do to invest in a course, to invest in a workshop that's going to help you be better in the long run? Entrepreneurs are people that understand it. They will live low for a little while so they can live a lifestyle that most will never live because everybody wants now, now, now, now. You want to keep up with the Joneses, but who the heck are they? You get one life, people. One life, and that's it. What are you willing to do? Are you willing to cut people off that are not progressive, but they give you the illusion of progression, but they're really not? Are you afraid to make moves because because you don't want to feel the discomfort of getting uncomfortable? Are you trying to make seasonal people lifetimers? Are you trying to hold on to people, places, and things that you know you should let go of because they're not progressive for you? Their time has come. You say thank you and you move on. You learn your lesson, whatever they came into your life to teach you. You learn the lesson, be it good or bad. They're just a piece of your journey. Don't wait for people and things to change when the change comes from you. But you'll sit back, talk about it. Oh yeah, this is this and that is that. They don't do things right over here, and I wish they would just do this and wish they would do that. Well, get over it. It's not gonna happen. You just don't want to be uncomfortable. Nobody likes the feel of discomfort. No one. But think about when a woman has a baby. Do you think we want to go through all of that discomfort? And all of that poking and prying and, and 9 months of going to the doctor getting checked on and, and all of that. Do you think we want to sit there and, and, uh, have all of our, our, uh, what do we— what do I want to call it— as, as Tamar Braxton say, our purse all exposed? But look at the sacrifice and look at the things that are done in order for a baby to be birthed, which turns out to be such a beautiful thing. What are you willing to sacrifice? What are you willing to give up? Are you willing to sit there and watch on the sidelines of people soaring ahead of you? Are you really ready to get in the game? This might mean you might have to cut off relationships, people, stop going to certain places, habits. You just have to quit it if you want to be successful. And once again, you have to believe. If you are a believer, you have to stop praying about God to give you finances and start praying about ideas. Pray about God, what area of, um, of in business, or what industry do you want me to be a part of? What gifting have you given me? Ask yourself that. Stop praying for money and pray for resources. Pray for ideas. Pray for understanding and knowledge so that you can, um, know exactly where you need to be. Solomon, the richest man to ever live, he didn't ask for money. He asked for knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom. If you want money, it's in your wisdom. It's in your head. It's in your hand. What's in your hand? What's in your hand? I always preach that. What is in your hand? So I just wanted to share that with you today, and I hope it blesses you. I hope it helps you get out of the rut. I hope, and I pray that you— now I'm gonna pray. I'm gonna ask you, please share this video. Share this video because there's so many people that will die with so much in them that should have come out. As they say, the richest place in the world is in the grave. So I love you guys. Share this video. Join me on Twitter and Facebook because I always have something good for you. And I hope this blessed you. And use what's in your hand. Stop praying for finances. Cut some folks off. It's time to walk away. And it's time for you to soar and make sacrifices. If you got to pawn that radio, pawn it. If you got to pawn that ring, pawn it. Do whatever you got to do. Invest in some courses. Get a life coach. A mentor, or your life will be the same way this time next year. All that, it's your season, it's your time— I'm not going to give you the hype. It is not your season, this is not your time if you don't make it. Love you guys, put in the work, and I'll see you later.
