Congratulations on your offer. Very exciting. How long did it actually take from the day that you entered the program to when you got the offer?
Um, I think it was about 2 and a half months. Okay, total. I think I started— maybe not. Yeah, about 2 to 2 and a half months, something in that range.
Got it.
Right.
And how, how were you before meeting, uh, MTV Coaching and, uh, myself?
How was I? I was frustrated, to be honest. The job search was gonna go— was going nowhere. Okay.
The— I—
it's, it's interesting because I started looking for a job a few weeks before we started, we started working together, and it was, it was just— there was nothing, you know. Like, I'd get calls from recruiters that had Nothing to offer me except the outside chance that they might be able to get me an interview somewhere. And it's like, oh, you've got great, you've got great experience. It's like, okay, thanks. What do you have? Nothing. My concerns were people were not looking at my experience. They were looking at, to be honest, my age. People were looking at just a piece of paper or, you know, my LinkedIn profile and getting nowhere with, you know, and just going, yeah, forget it, not interested. And you become also fodder for, you know, the throw it out there and see if I can gather resumes routine.
Right.
And then you get ghosted. Because, yeah, you respond, but there's nobody actually there to get it.
Got it.
Um, so it was kind of, you know, it was, it was very tough.
So what was the process of working with, uh, our program?
The process? I mean, uh, the process was very— was actually really amazing because, um, you've reached out to me. We had We had kind of connected on LinkedIn quite a while ago. But at that time, I was kind of settled where I was and wasn't going anywhere. And I got a reminder like, hi, are you, you know, we connected a while back, can you, you want to talk? And I'm like, of course I want to talk. I was like, yes. Spoke to one of your people. I'm trying to remember who. Who just filled me— immediately started filling me with confidence. You can do it. We can help you and we can make this, you know, we're not recruiters, but we work with the recruiters and we know how the ins and outs and Michelle will teach you and this will be— and I'm like, This is just too cool, right? You know, so when I came on board, the first thing, I mean, uh, we had a, a one-on-one. We had our first one-on-one, and then I was right away into almost with— I think it was 2 days later I was sitting on the, the, uh, the group call.
Yes.
The Thursday group call. By the end of that week, I was completely and totally like, oh, this is going to be amazing.
Yeah.
It's gonna be amazing. And it was, you know, nothing happened immediately, right? It wasn't like you waved your magic wand and all of a sudden things worked. There was a process and the process was get your act together. You know you can do this. That was kind of like your attitude always, you're gonna do this, it's gonna be great, but you've got to put the work in. So we put the work in, we We got stuck, we got things changed, we got the resume changed, we got the LinkedIn changed, put together the 3 chapters, which I think is the most brilliant thing I've ever heard. And, you know, the immediate pitch and, you know, like the 30-second pitch and this and that. It's like, just keep modifying it, keep working it, keep doing it.
Yes.
And when things started moving, things really started moving. It was like I was— I went to— I spoke to a number of people and realized myself this was not a great fit. But I got through those calls and said, if this had been a better fit or something that really represented my dream job, I would have jumped at it. Yeah, I would have been easily gotten. I would— they would have jumped at me.
Yes.
And But that didn't happen. But, you know, it was like, you know, you go out on a date with somebody and it's like, yeah, we're not for each other. Thank you very much. But, but if— but it was all of a sudden much easier to go through this process.
Yes.
The, the best. So when it came to things that we— there were 2 in the end, there were 2 opportunities. One was kind of meandering around, but it looked like something really interesting and could have gone that way. And then there was the one that I took, which was absolutely like the dream job. I remember asking you about this and that they wanted to know ahead of time what kind of a salary range should I be looking for.
Yeah.
And I was like, I don't, you know, I don't want to give a salary range, you know, then they're going to lock you into something. And you said, no, it's about the— you always miss all of the shots you don't take.
Yes.
And I stepped up and I said, fine, you told me a number. And I told them $20,000 more than that number. And they still wanted to talk to me. And in the end, I got $25,000 more than that.
So the outcome is that you received the role and—
They created the role.
They created the role. And for $45K more than you had anticipated?
Right. And it's working for, you know, for an organization that I, that I absolutely respect and believe is doing unbelievable work for the, you know, for the community. And
