Why Executive Career Coaching Works | Stephen Bush’s MTV Coaching Testimonial

Stephen Bush spent months job hunting after relocating in February 2025, hitting dead ends and getting rejected from a dream tech role with no feedback. He realized he wasn't selling his skills effectively despite relevant experience at Tempus, and after trying other coaches, found MTV Coaching through research. The program's clear structure clicked with him in a way others hadn't.
So tell me, what was your situation before you met MTV Coaching?
So I was looking, getting frustrated with it, and I just— I knew there was something I wasn't grasping. I was like, I don't know really how to network well. I don't know how to find opportunities and how to build that, especially considering it was in a completely different location. And I was just hitting dead ends and not getting anywhere and trying, really trying. I've been trying since February '25 and really continuing to amp it up. And I didn't expect it to be as hard as it was, but I think part of that was timing and this global situation. Part of it is also it's difficult.
Tell me the moment that you realized that you need some kind of help in this arena.
I think it was just when I had applied for a dream job. It was a role that I honestly would have been amazing at, would have been perfect for. And it was a really weird one. It was like, a tech engineering job, but under regulatory, helping manage the system that would do that. And, and I got an interview. Like, I applied cold, got an interview, and then was like, hey, you know, here's my schedule, let's figure this out. And then nothing. And I kept trying to And I reached out, I was like, hey, you know, I wanna, you know, I didn't— haven't heard anything. Here's the schedule for my next week, would love to chat. And then got to the end of that week and I'm like, hey, just following up, wanting to see how things are going. And they're like, actually, we've decided that, you know, you're not a great fit. And I'm— I was like, but you already reviewed it, can I just talk to somebody? And I was like, what? Like, what's going on? Like, how could you like say yes, you're a fit, and then no, you're not? Like, Um, it just— and so I ended up talking with the recruiter and, and he was like, yeah, you know, they're looking for someone who's definitely more on this side. And I realized I didn't sell myself like that. Um, and I didn't really know how to, like, because I had all the skills that they were looking for. I built out those exact systems at Tempus, those exact policies at Tempus, but I hadn't sold myself like that. And, you know, he said, oh, you know, I've gotten in contact with, you know, X, Y, and Z person, and we think you'd be a good fit for there. And then it just like— and we stayed in contact a little bit, but then he just ended up ghosting me. Um, and I reached out to another recruiter, was like, oh yeah, yeah, they told me about you, let's get you hooked up. Nothing. I kept, you know, I, I had friends who have connections over there, and they would introduce me. I talked with one guy And it just was going nowhere. Like, I— those— I would talk with someone and nothing. Then it would just— and I'm like, what am I doing wrong? And I realized there is something I'm missing here, something that I'm not doing right in how I'm presenting myself, my resume, everything, that I'm just like, I've got these networking connections and it's completely blocked.
Yes.
And no feedback as to why. And so that's when I realized I need help. I need to improve this. So you honestly had contacted me just like, I think a week after that had happened. And so I was like, and I'm trying to recall exactly what it was because I'd been contacted by other people like offering to help, you know, rewrite resume, help with career coaching stuff. And I was just like, no, know, but there was something about your program, um, that I just— I was like, okay, this, this makes more sense to me. And honestly, I, I Googled the crap out of you, researched you, and, and I was like, I found nothing bad, period. Nothing. And I'm like, okay, either she's really good or she's got an amazing PR team. Which, if that's the case, like, hey, that's that's a that's a way to do it too. So I'm okay with that as well. And so, like, I I honestly don't recall exactly what it was about your program, but it it it struck me in a way that I actually was like, okay, let's consider this. And then when we talked, you outlined the program, and it just. made sense to me. So, um, and I, I can't— I don't know that I can give much more detail than that. Like, the, the way the structure of it just makes, makes sense. It, it, it clicks in my brain.
Fantastic. Well, your brain is pretty advanced, so I take that as a huge, huge compliment.
