Two people built a local-media newsletter to 40,000 subscribers without missing an issue in nearly two and a half years. They wrote every one themselves and see the newsletter as a way to handle content, growth, and money all at once.
Questions this video answers
About 40,000 subscribers.
Almost two and a half years.
Yes—the speaker says they wrote every single newsletter.
How long did it take you to get to 40,000?
It's the easiest part. I'm not afraid to fail. I drive towards failure every single day. I'll try new things.
And when you started why did you choose a newsletter? The email versus like going social.
I just see a newsletter is like content, growth, monetization. I wrote every single newsletter which I haven't missed one in almost two and a half years in a way that I'd be excited to receive it.
So I was going to ask you like what's easier growing it or selling, you know, monetizing it to you? They both seem pretty easy.
It's not everything funnels back to community. Everything I do is about bringing people together, making them feel more connected to this place. I don't want to be a newsletter. I want to be a much larger company. It was born out of my desire to really connect with the community and help build the community.
