DON'T live through others live your own life

A fitness coach responds to criticism over partying at a Caribbean J'ouvert celebration, arguing that enjoying social activities doesn't contradict discipline. He says people shouldn't police creators' behavior or live vicariously through them, and that his personal choices like avoiding alcohol are preferences, not moral superiority.

Don't live through others. Live your own life, ladies and gentlemen. And I noticed that people tend to try to live through you vicariously on social media, which is a very dangerous thing. I posted a short reel on Instagram about me going to a J'ouvert. Uh, you know, for you— for a lot of you who don't know what J'ouvert is, J'ouvert is when, you know, it's a Caribbean event pretty much, you know. Uh, my cousins, you know, Caribbeans are pretty much our cousins. I'm from Africa. We pretty much share the same The same culture and all that. Forget cousins, they're my brothers and sisters, you feel me? Love my Caribbean folks. I posted that video, right? And it was really met with the wrong reception, aka the vibes, the comments in the comment section just failed terribly. And a lot of you know me, I don't really drink or smoke. I, well, I never have honestly. So, but I do love to have fun with my homies. We go out sometimes, we, you know, we enjoy ourselves. You know, we have fun because we work hard. You know, if you work hard, I really do believe you should enjoy yourself. You should enjoy the fruits of your hard work and your labor and all that. But it was met with very weird comments. Most of it was just bigotry. I'll be real with you. And a lot of— I could not understand why, honestly, you know, like I tried to. Excuse me. But I later on realized that people, a lot of people know me as, you know, as a coach. Yes, I am. A lot of people know me as a coach. I come up here, I spread knowledge, I go to the gym. A lot of people know me as a gym guy per se, but that is not all I am, ladies and gentlemen. I love to have fun, I love to go out, I love to interact with people, I love to talk, you know what I'm saying? I love to socialize, I love to really just, you know, enjoy life, enjoy the moment. And seeing how people try to police your fun because, you know, they watch your content, they want you to stick to one thing per se, It's a very dangerous thing. That's why I try— I tell people, don't live through others. Live your own life, especially on social media. A lot of people try to live through you, through your content, you know what I'm saying? Yes, you inspire them, rightfully so. Incredible. But they tend to take it a step further, per se. A lot of people cannot differentiate that you yourself are your own person. You have your own goals, your hobbies, things you like, things you may not like. And the things I may like, others may not like at all. And that's totally fine because the things— Others may like, I may not like. But one thing I would never do is really judge another imperfect man as an imperfect man myself for what they're doing, for what they have fun or how they have fun. I don't care. Genuinely, I don't care at all. I'm very big on stoicism to the point that it's over— it's almost overriding my mind in a sense. If it doesn't bother me per se, and when I mean bother me, if it doesn't have permanent damage on my life or if it doesn't, you know, make me lose sleep, Why should I care how another man, a grown man or woman, have fun? How— why should I care about that? That is their life they're choosing to live. Me trying to police other people's fun is very, very controlling, and I am not a controlling individual. Life is not meant to be controlled like that. You must let people do as they want, you know what I'm saying? Let people do as they want. As long as they're not hurting nobody, that should be fine. But I posted that video on, uh, on, uh, on, uh, Instagram And man, the comment section was terrible, man. People were talking about how I went from being disciplined to not being disciplined. I went from like, you could see the dumbest shit, literally. That made no sense. Discipline is all I know. And the one day I take to have fun from all the work I'm doing does not make me undisciplined. Again, I don't drink or smoke. I never will because, you know, I'm too disciplined to really put that in my temple per se. Now, others that do that, that's fine, you know what I'm saying. I've always stated this, me not drinking and smoking does not make me better than the man, the next man or woman who drinks or smokes. Literally, it does not. I'm just a regular dude who doesn't indulge in it, as simple as that. That does not make me better than them, it does not make me superior to them or anything like that. That is a weird way of thinking. If I thought like that, that would be very weird and my mom and dad would be disappointed in me. Mom always told me, let people do as they want to do. Yes, I will never come on social media and dictate other people's fun because that is extremely, extremely egotistical and arrogant of you. Yes, I do have an ego. As I mentioned in my last video, it's good to have an ego. Obviously, you have to prove why you have an ego. If you can't prove why you have an ego, that's arrogance right there. Literally, that's plain and simple, that's arrogance. But for some reason, I couldn't understand why people had a problem with that. But like I said, I sat down to think about it and I thought about it. I was like, wait a minute, people tend to live through you actually, through your content in a sense. Meaning that if you're a guy who, you know, if you're a guy who talks about politics and all that, and let's say you one day went to the gym per se, I'm going to switch it up. You went to the gym and you were doing something wrong. People will obviously insult or judge you for that because that is not your specialty per se, or that is not what they're used to seeing you do. But they fail to understand that you yourself, you may talk about politics, but you have other hobbies, you have other things, you know, you have— you aspire to also do a part talking about politics because there's no one who only just does one thing. People have hobbies they like, they have things they like to do, activities like they like to attend, you know what I'm saying. And all these other fun things, how they have fun, how they release your stress per se, and how they really just go about living life. Them going out the norm to do these things once in a while does not change who they are per se or make them worse or, you know, just— it shouldn't do any of that to your eyes. They have to live their life just like you live your life. And honestly, I would never really come on social media and really care about what someone else is doing per se. Not even social media, in real life. I'm so big on the stoicism nature that if it doesn't bother you or harm you personally, why do you care what They're doing. That's why I never really come up here and try to judge anybody for doing what they do. Now, I will talk about fitness, I will talk about how to train properly and all that because I know it's a proper way of training because I have clients who train like this and I have results from all of them. So, I know what I'm talking about and I've also done my research and done my studies to know that functional training is obviously the best. Not only do you build a very capable body, but you build a body that is very good looking. and very appealing to the eyes, you know what I'm saying? Very appealing to the eyes. And of course, it has that social status too, you know, one of the highest, um, one of the highest forms of, uh, of what's it called, just, just status in a sense. A good physique, a really good physique. So imagine. I say this to say, I, for the love of God, can never understand why people want to always live through others through social media. Because yes, I do have some other social media, uh, folks I, you know, I will look up to in the sense I will watch and all that, but I never want to live through them. I never want to imagine myself in their shoes or whatever it may be, because why would I want to do that? I have a life to live and I really love my life and I, you know, really want to keep living my life. So I focus on myself. I focus on making myself the best version of me as I possibly can. Literally, I've never once looked at a social media influencer or social media celebrity and said, damn, I wish I was them, because Why would I do that? I love my life. I love my family. You know what I'm saying? Because if I wished I was them, that means I would have to switch places with them. I don't know their family. I don't know what their life is like outside of social media and all that. I would never want to be them. You know what I'm saying? I can appreciate the hard work they've put in and all that. And I can also appreciate and know that they're their own people. They're going to have fun how they want to have fun. You know what I'm saying? How they choose to have fun should not concern me and it should not change my views on them. Especially if they're still very much disciplined, they're doing the work, they're helping people and all that, and they're not stepping on anyone's shoes or anyone to really get above them or better than them. Yes, if you're not hurting anybody, please enjoy what you've worked for. I literally encourage people to enjoy the hard work they work for and all that. So, I say this to say, don't live through others. I owe. Live your own life, ladies and gentlemen. And I really want to emphasize that for you to live your own life. A lot of people cannot live their own life. Why can they not live their own life? Many reasons. Some of the main reasons will be that they don't— they do not love themselves per se, you know what I'm saying. If you don't love what you see in the mirror, if you don't love, you know, who you are at a certain time, you would not want to live that life. That reality is probably very, very scary. So, you would wish to be in other people's shoes. But I say this to say this, you must know thyself and conquer thyself. Because once you know yourself and conquer thyself, Guess what? You start to love yourself and you start to love your life. So, till then, you're always going to want to live through others, which is extremely dangerous, ladies and gentlemen. Please, I really do advise y'all. I know I come up here and I post fitness content and all that, but I see it a lot on social media. A lot of people let it really control them, you know, rent-free as they call it. Rent-free. Do not— you do not want to be that person. Learn to sit with yourself. For a certain amount of time in a quiet room or whatever it may be. Not too much isolation, not too much monk mode, but learn to really sit with yourself and really understand and know who you are so you can really love yourself. Yes, because till then you're always going to want to live through other people and that is extremely dangerous. I cannot emphasize on that enough. Don't want to— you don't want to live through other people. You don't know what their life is like outside of, you know, the glamorous, you know, the fun parts they show you and all that. Because a lot of you don't also know what my life is like. I could be, you know, be— I could be the healthiest guy and whatever. Behind the scenes, I'm like, oh man, I'm eating junk food and all that. Obviously I'm not, but I'm just saying people, people show you, you know, what they want you to see, per se. But for the most part, people show, you know, what, you know, who they are in a sense, you feel me? And who they, who they want to be seen as or portrayed as in a sense. So I say this one more time, don't live through others. Live your own life. You know what I'm saying? Your life could be hell right now. You could be going through things right now. But once you really learn to sit down and really work on yourself, know thyself, conquer thyself, you can really start to love yourself. You feel me? And I really, really do emphasize on loving yourself. If you cannot love yourself, if you do not love yourself, you cannot go out to the world and try to love others. It does not work like that. It starts within. Literally, it starts within. So yes, ladies and gentlemen, please don't live through others. Live your own life. Y'all stay blessed and of course very much disciplined. For any help, you already know what to do. Just hit me up.
