Daniel Obi explains why men over 30 need to stop doing the high-volume splits that worked in their 20s. After 30, testosterone drops, recovery takes twice as long, and inflammation increases, making old routines dangerous and ineffective. Switching to mobility-focused training that prioritizes joint health produces better results and lets you move better than younger lifters.

I hate to have to say this, but if you're over 30 and still training like you're 22, you're practically begging for that knee pain, back pain, and belly fat to never go away. Literally. At 22, your testosterone is high as crack. Excuse my language, of course. Your joints recover overnight, and your cortisol, it resets by morning. But at 32, working 10-hour shifts, yeah, not the same. None of that is happening because your body is running on stress hormones, your joints are inflamed, and you're doing the same bro split you probably found on YouTube. 2015 or 2016. Chest Monday, arms Tuesday. Wondering why you look the same after 3 damn years. Dog, here's what's actually happened to you after 30. Your recovery window, it literally doubles. Your nervous system, it stays taxed longer. And volume training without mobility work is literally aging your joints 2 times faster than it should. The men I coach who are 35, 42, and even 46, they move better than most 25-year-olds because they stopped training for ego, literally, and they started training for functionality. They're not doing less, they're doing what's smart, and that's gonna keep them aging gracefully.
