The day you stop moving is the day you become stiff, very unathletic, and overall less capable. So ladies and gentlemen, today's topic is really movement quality and overall movement variety. When you lack movement in your workouts or in your— excuse me— in your everyday life, you tend to realize that you're going to become very, and I mean very, very unathletic. You feel me? Now, It is super important to not only train your body in different coordinated pattern movements, but also in very uncomfortable positions as well too. As you can see over here, I'm doing a little bit of a sissy squat on a dumbbell. Now this is extreme. This is to show my strong joints and overall very uncomfortable positioning I can put myself in because I've been able to literally train those parts of my body and really just those movements. But like I said, you don't have to do that. That is just a high example, a very proficient and very advanced example. Here I'm doing weighted squat walks. Now, these train your hip flexors, your knees, and all the good stuff to be able to handle different and uncomfortable positions. Excuse me on that. And yes, as I mentioned, the day you stop moving, right, is really the day you become very unathletic, stiff, and less capable. So how can one really mitigate that or really just fix that? How can you fix that? Well, you need movement in your workouts. You need a variety of different movements in your workouts. Why is that? Like I said, they train your coordinated patterns. They train what's it called, your athleticism. And they overall keep you very in— and they overall keep you very light on your feet as well too. You know what I'm saying? You do not wanna be in your 20s, you know, funny enough, a lot of people, you know, especially in this day and age, they're young but very, you know, they have back pains, knee pains, and all that. And you only have these sort of things when you not take care of your body at an early age, you know what I'm saying? When you only go to the gym and just go pump iron. Now, I tell that to people all the time that you don't wanna go to the gym. Look, you wanna look good, of course. We all wanna look good. Hey man, I love to look good. Trust me on that. As you see, I love to look good, in good shape. But one thing I love above looking good is knowing at any given moment I can wake up and literally go sprint. I can go jump high, you know what I'm saying? I can run fast, go jump high, I can do a backflip, I can do whatever and all that. Plus the fact I look good, you know what I'm saying? That's because I don't only train for one thing. I don't only train to fill out my sleeve. Somebody was in the comments one time, they was like, yeah, this guy, you know what I'm saying, he just trains to fill out his sleeve. And you know, as you know, common sense would tell you that's not true. If you've watched my, you know, my channel and all that, I don't go to the gym just to look good. Trust me on that. I go to be very functional and very agile. Literally, and overall very capable. That is the— that is the end goal, you know what I'm saying? I'm trying to be the dad, like I always mentioned to y'all, I'm trying to be the dad or the granddad who— whose kids, they had— they have to know that to beat me in anything, any athletic endeavor— excuse me— they literally, and I mean they literally, have to put in 110% just to beat me in any athletic endeavor. And I, I'm making that a goal of mine. I'm literally making that That would be a goal of mine, you know what I'm saying? My kids will have to earn every, every, every bragging right they have against me. Uh, against me, they would have to earn that. So yes, for me to do that, I have to add movement varieties and just movement qualities to my workouts. We're talking about lateral movements, of course. Now we have things like bounding, you know, going forward, or just, you know, really just hopping forward, as they say, you know what I'm saying? Bounding is a very good plyometrics as well too. So yes, a lot of plyometrics will be added into this Into, uh, into this regimen, I should call it. If you've noticed how I work out, right, I— yes, I lift heavy weight, of course, because I want to be overall strong and also very explosive. That helps spike my CNS. You know, it wakes up my CNS, especially when you wake up, you know what I'm saying? You want to move weight very, um, intentional. Some people say aggressively, but you can, you can say, you can say that as well too, because when you're aggressive in the sense you're very intentional, just like sprinting. Sprinting is a very intentional thing to do. You don't— you cannot half-ass a sprint. Literally, you know what I'm saying? Even if you try to, but to sprint, you have to be able to put enough force into the ground at a fast rate, you know what I'm saying? Rate of force development and all that. So yes, I have a lot of movement variety and qualities in my workouts, you know? And not only does it make me overall very capable, it also makes my workouts a lot fun. Literally, I look forward to going working out, you know what I'm saying? I look forward to knowing that I'm going to, you know, sprint, what's it called, sprint, I'm gonna sprint sideways, I'm gonna sprint backwards and all that. These things make your workout fun. You know, you want to look forward to working out, you know what I'm saying? You don't wanna be the guy who's like, oh man, I got bicep back today. It is what it is, you know what I'm saying? I'm gonna go do that. You know, in the long run, right? With no due respect, no, what's it called? It makes your workouts a lot boring. Some people don't even wanna go work out, you know what I'm saying? They really don't even look forward to it. So that's why I tell y'all, Adding movement to your workouts, it changes the game, man. It really changes the game because you're going to build a physique you want, right? You know, it is a byproduct of what you're going to be doing, which will be lifting weights and obviously eating very clean. Yes, your diet must be clean, of course, you know what I'm saying? Obviously, you know, if you're a person who drinks out a lot, you have to sacrifice some of those things and all that. But I digress, you know what I'm saying? But what I'm trying to say is that, You need movement variety and movement quality in your workouts. Trust me on that. Not only does it make it fun, as I mentioned and all that, but it makes you overall very capable. You're not only able to move in one plane of motion, which will be forward, but you're also able to handle lateral movements as well, backward movements as well, and unilateral movements as well too, doing things on one leg. Majority of people are used to doing things— I don't wanna say used to doing things bilaterally, but They've actually never trained their unilateral strength or coordination, or better yet, they've never been— they've never— what's it called? When they're put in a position of, let's say they're playing their favorite hobbies, when they're put in a position where they should obviously use one leg or they have to use one leg to cut and all that, to change direction and all that, they tend to typically not be able to do that in a sense. Like their equilibrium is obviously off, you know what I'm saying? Their coordinated patterns, it looks very funny. They've never really tested that of themselves and all that, because like I said, they don't train that and all that. So there's no neuromuscular connectivity with that. And yes, you need, you need what's it called? You need all of this. I know, you know, sometimes it may sound like a lot, but really it's generally not. It's only a lot when it comes to, you know, building out a system and, you know, building a program and all that that can obviously work for you. But have no fear. That's why I'm here. Literally, you know, I break these things down for you so you can comprehend it and obviously added to your regimen. Or better yet, if you want more in-depth training plans, you obviously can, you know, email me or literally set up a meeting. But I digress. Let's move to movement quality. As you can see, I have sprints. Sprints are number one. That will get you right no matter what age you are, you feel me? Obviously, when you get a little older, you don't want to be, you know, doing that as much in a sense, because, you know, it might be a little bit too much on the body. But like I said, Everyone's different. If you still want to do that, there's nothing wrong with that, ladies and gentlemen. Literally, you feel me? If your body can handle that, if you feel like your mind can handle it and all that, do not let— do not let me put my limitations upon you, you know, because I wouldn't want to do that to anybody, honestly. But I'm just— I'm just being considerate because of your, you know, your health, you know what I'm saying? Health is wealth. So if you can do anything to obviously mitigate, you know, the stress or injuries and all that, why wouldn't we? You know what I'm saying? We should— we should look forward to literally doing that. But I digress again. Let's talk about movement quality. Yes, you wanna sprint. Not only sprint, but you also wanna jump and all that. I was really just practicing the backflip the other time I did. It just helps my coordinated patterns and all that because when you're doing a flip in a sense, now you don't have to do it. Over here, I'm doing literally a bound on a single leg, you feel me? And I'm just literally hopping with that. That is a unilateral exercise. Here's my homie over here. He's doing a broad jump as well. He has some movement qualities in his workouts. He He's doing a weighted sled sprint right here. You know what I'm talking about? We're doing sled sprints right here. Really good for that. Really good for building up power and the strength in your legs to obviously apply more force. This is obviously when it comes to sprinting. You know what I'm saying? But there's nothing wrong with that too as well because with this, he's also building good leg strength, literally. So yeah, you want to be able to have all these qualities or just movement qualities in your workouts. It is, it makes it fun, literally, especially in the summertime. Now it's, you know, it's getting hot out here. We can get a lot of sprint sessions, a lot of jump sessions, a lot of field work, as I like to call it, which is really good because not only are you not only— not only are you just going to the gym just to simply lift weight and pump iron, and I get it, this is not a diss to anybody, but over time that is boring, literally, you know what I'm saying? And not only is it boring too as well, but it's not the It's not the, the best way of going about things when you want— when you're seeking longevity, you feel me? Yes, some people can get away with that. Some people can really just, you know, lift weights only and really be fine for the rest of your life because, like I said, that is, you know, weightlifting is good stress to the body, of course, especially when you're met with a good diet, a great diet. Some people can really just get away with that, but the majority of people cannot get away with that. That is why we have a lot of old individuals right now with knee pain, back pain, you know what I'm saying? All types of pain and they're on medications. And all that because they literally never had movement variety or movement quality in your regimen or workout, I should say, you know what I'm saying? That's why a lot of these, uh, a lot of these sprinters, when they get old, they're in top shape, literally. I mean, they have the longevity and all that because they kept moving, you feel me? They literally kept moving. Sprinters had to do different drills like A-skips, B-skips, and all that, different movement drills and all that. Not only does this help with your, you know, insane coordination, ladies and gentlemen, but it also helps with your longevity as well, quite literally. And you've seen how the sprinters are built. They're literally built like Greek gods. I mean, they're built like with some muscle on them, you feel me? Lean athletic muscle. But I digress, ladies and gentlemen. My conclusion to this video is that you should add movement variety to your workouts and regimen. Not only does it keep it fun and exciting, but it also helps with your longevity as well too, you feel me? And that is it, y'all. Y'all stay blessed and disciplined. And if you want one-on-one coaching, feel free to hit the link in the bio. I'm out.
