I'm so pumped up to welcome Mr. Funnel Doc, AKA Jeffrey M. Banach. Let's welcome the guy to the game.
What's up, man? How are you doing? Good.
Yeah, I'm doing good, brother. How about you?
I'm great, man. Great. Thanks for having me on. Yeah, you sent me— I got a message to tell everybody how it went. I literally got a message and it was like something like, hey, I have a podcast, I'd love to have you on, would you be interested? And I was like, sure, why not? Why not? I was like, give it a shot and let you— give you some time. So I thought we'd get— said yes. And then you sent me a link, we scheduled, and then here we are.
Crazy. Yeah, it was crazy. Like, everything is interlinked and I really appreciate your down-to-earth nature, which allowed me to have a great opportunity to have a greatest guy in the game on live with us for our internet entrepreneurs. We are really pleased to have you. So let's get started, brother. I think we are already having 20 people on this live, so people are waiting for the final talk. Yeah, let's do it. So yeah, guys, first of all, please put hashtag live if you're watching this live, or maybe hashtag replay if you're watching this replay. And brother, I really personally know you. I was always spying on you because you're one of my Dream 100, so I always check what's happening with you and we with your personal community, I always engage with you in your group, right? I know your story, but I want you to start with your personal story. Like, how did you get started? What was your backstory? Sure. I would really love to listen.
So, okay. So I actually started out, a lot of people don't know this, but I was in fitness originally. I was in the military right out of high school, right out of the military. I was with the Marine Corps, I was a medic in the Marines. So I got out and we'd worked out a lot. A buddy of mine had a gym and he was running the gym and he's like, hey, come be a personal trainer. So for like 15 to 18 years, I ran gyms and was a personal trainer. That's all I did. One day during one of my personal training sessions, one of my clients at the time, I'm telling him about this idea I have. This is in 2010 for like the first ever online, like automated personal training, like app. This is like nothing's out there. And if you go back to 2010, you'll see nothing was out there like this. So he's like, we're talking about during the session, he's on, I'll never get it. He was on the bench press. And he like stops and looks at me, he's like, do you like your job? And he like finishes up and I rack— I'm like, Mark, what are you talking about? I'll tell you what. And this guy was really, really wealthy. He had his own bunch of different businesses, really. He showed me his books one time, he was making like $80K a week. So you do the math, he's doing pretty good, you know, right?
So crazy stuff.
He goes to me, he goes, you know what, um, I'll tell you what, it's your idea I'll put up the funds, we'll split it 50/50, and I'll even give you a salary of $3,000 a month to work on it. So I'm like, are you kidding? Heck yeah, let's do it. You know, so needless to say, a year goes by that we're building this thing out. We get ready to launch and Mark comes to me and he's like, you know what? Originally, I allotted like $100,000 for this project. A year later to get everything done and everything, he'd already spent like $115,000 on it. And that's without no ads and we haven't launched it yet. So Mark looks at me, he's like, "You know what, Jeff?" He's like, "I think I'd rather just call it a loss. I'm gonna write it off." Which, who writes off $115 grand? You're just like, "Oh, it's a loss, sorry." Must be nice, right? But he had that, he writes it off and he's like, because think about as a marketer to launch a new software that's leading edge and no one, another $100,000, $200,000, maybe even $500,000 or $1 million to get it out there properly. I mean, think about that. Because it's, you know, so he's like, I just— ah, we're just gonna end it. So I'm like, cool. And I'm, I'm sitting there going, um, now what do I do? You know, it's a year later, I'm, I'm all in on this project thinking it's going to be, you know, my gravy train to the promised land, never gonna have to work hardly ever again. And, um, now all of a sudden I'm gonna have to go back to work. And I hadn't been working out, I wasn't in shape, I was older, I was like 38 at the time, you know. And, um people, it was hard getting a job as a trainer again. So I'm like, you know what, I'm gonna make my own business. This is where the entrepreneur came in me. I'm like, I'm gonna make my own business and I'm gonna start doing like boot camps and I'm gonna start advertising for them on Facebook online. And this is when I first went into the digital marketing world for the first time, was learning about how to advertise and how to sell for my own business, you know, my own fitness boot camp. Well, one day this guy who's a mentor of mine I was studying under named Bedros Keuilian holds up this book from some random dude, Russell Brunson, called DotCom Secrets or something, whatever it may be.
The game changer.
You gotta read it, right? So, well, you do what your mentor tells you to do, so I read it. And man, I'm getting goosebumps even just thinking about it. When I read that book, it's like all that training that I've been learning, the sales training, going online from offline, all that, It all made sense, like upsells and webinars and downsells and self-liquidating offers, and everything made sense. Now I'm like, this is the future. Websites are dead. There will not be websites. Funnels are going to be the future. So, um, I joined the ClickFunnels group March, uh, 25th. I know the exact day, 2017. I joined it. April 4th, I got this, uh, let's see if you can see it, this funnel hat. That's a real tattoo.
I need to appreciate that.
Wow. Yeah. Forth. I got it, and I even— it's one of those Facebook memories popped up the other day, you know, and it was like, I forgot I even did it. I got it and I tagged Russell. I'm like, Russell Brunson, know my name because I'm gonna do something ClickFunnels. And for those watching, this was like a promise to myself that I was gonna go all in. Either I'm gonna be some—
I don't know—
with the ClickFunnels tattoo, or I'm gonna crush it, you know. Luckily it was the crush it and not the weirdo one because that would have sucked. But anyway, so I'm learning, I'm learning ClickFunnels now. I'm— the group is like 35,000 people. It's super small at the time, but I'm going all in. Yeah, it's so small, it's like 250,000 now or something crazy. Yeah, but I'm in this group and I'm providing value because the way I figured— a lot of people don't realize this— that's how I started was just learning in the group. I'm like, if I figure if I can answer any question in there and teach people ClickFunnels, then I'll master ClickFunnels myself. So anyone had a group, I'd be in the group answering questions, jumping on Zooms. I was maxing out my credit cards buying Russell's stuff, buying Ryan Dice's digital, you know, like I was all in. I literally would fall asleep on the keyboard. I wake up and I hit play again and watch Russell again. Like I was— couldn't get enough, you know. And it made so much sense. I'm going— I'm just learning, learning, learning. Um, and then all of a sudden one of the craziest things happened. One day I'm sitting on the keyboard of my— what my desk at the time was by the front door. I didn't have my own office. We're in such a small place. We had no money at all. It was terrible.
I get it. Yes. Yeah.
I was like, I could barely have a computer, you know, and I'm sitting there by the front door and my wife was sort of supporting us at this time. Like I'd get a job here or there, but I hadn't made anything, you know, like nothing substantial or recurring. And She comes in, she goes to work, and like 30 minutes later she comes in and she's like just crying like, you know, somebody had died. And I'm just like, oh my God, babe, what's wrong? And she's like, I got fired. And what had happened is the night before they were throwing out some food, you know, like the muffins. She worked at a Starbucks, you know, all the little food that they have. And, um, one of the girls asked for the muffins, she was hungry. So my wife was like, sure, go ahead and have it. Well, another girl didn't like her. She reported her to the corporate office and they fired her for theft because it was supposed to be thrown away.
So sad. Unfair.
Yeah. And she'd been working for the company for 8 years as a manager, for 8 years. And overnight, over a muffin, they let her go. So we're sitting there like most people don't have a savings. We're from paycheck to paycheck, barely making it, maxed out credit cards. Um, couple weeks go by, all of a sudden rent's due. We don't have really money for rent. It was like $1,200, you know. Um, my wife's ring had a small ring at that time because I couldn't afford much, so I bought her a small ring when we got married. It was so bad we had to pawn her ring just to pay rent. I mean, it was that bad. So, and the sad thing was, is my rent was $1,200 and her ring was only $800, so we had to borrow from her parents another $400 just to be able to pay rent. It was Literally like one of the worst times, like we didn't have money for food. And I'm sitting there the whole time like, do I go back as a lowly personal trainer and make a minimum wage just to get a job or get something like, what do I do? Do I keep pushing through? And I kept pushing through and then all of a sudden out of nowhere, some random dude named Kevin David posts in the ClickFunnels group, I need help with my funnels. And because I'd been in the group so much, helping everyone, everyone starts tagging me, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, he's the man, he's, you know, you know, because literally for like 6 months now, all I've been doing was providing value to the group. Matter of fact, just 2 weeks prior to this, the group had grown about 78,000 people, no, 70,000, 78,000 people. And they put out for the first ever the top 10 contributors to the group, the first time anyone had ever done it, brand new feature on Facebook. And I was the second highest contributor out of 78,000 people. And for some name recognitions, like, do you know— you know Julie Stoian, right? You know who she is?
Yes.
So that tells you— yeah, exactly. That tells you, like, crazy stuff. Serious people. Um, so, but that's how he— so that's— I've gotten this recognition. And then so Kevin asked me, he's like, well, what's your resume? I'm like, well, I've got these certifications from Digital Marketer. I showed him a couple funnels. I'm like, I got nominated for the second highest out group. I got a ClickFunnels tattoo. He's like, well, hey, if you got a ClickFunnels tattoo, you got to be the man, right? You know?
Yeah, you're the dude, right?
Right. So he— I'll never forget it— to build out his entire funnel ecosystem, his funnels, his emails, Messenger bots, literally everything but the course and the webinar— he made that himself— um, he paid me $6,000. And at that time, I was like, we are effing rich. Excuse my language, but we are— we're going out to dinner at Red Lobster, we're paying the bills off, baby. We're going, whoa, yeah, we— oh my God, it was the greatest time ever, man. We paid off everything, we got caught up on our debts. But the problem then existed is, um, is we launched this funnel and then, then 57 days later after we launched, we broke the ClickFunnels record for the fastest to a million at $1.2 million. That was at the time the fastest anyone had ever hit a million.
And that's crazy stuff, crazy.
Mind you, as a trainer I made like $50,000 or $60,000 a year max. And we had 2 days that we made over $100,000, $108,000 and $132,000. And I'm just like, I haven't even seen that much in years, let alone in 24 hours. I'm just sitting there going, I'm partly responsible. I mean, Kevin made everything, but like, I'm— wow, it's working. I can't— everything that Russell's taught me is working. You know, it's so amazing. And you're seeing all the success. But the problem then existed was Kevin, it's his project. He got all the money. He got it. You know, I just made it. No one knew I did all the ecosystem. They just knew Kevin. So Kevin's getting all this notoriety. All of a sudden, September 15th, 2017, they have the viral launch of the gold digger and the squirrel. I don't know if you know about this at all. This is just some old school stuff. We're going to OG on you guys right now. So Russell thought is that he was going to work with the Harmon Brothers. They mean like Squatty Potty, Poopery, all those funny type commercials that have like blown up and done millions of dollars. So Russell paid them like half a million to build out his first ever viral video, and he was going to release it at this launch. And he brought in Gary Vee, he brought in the top 200 influencers from all over the world. It was all this high-level people, it was crazy, man. And here's the thing, they invited Kevin. And Kevin goes, I'm not going to go unless Jeff can go because he's such an amazing dude. He's like, Jeff needs to get some recognition. He's like, I'm not going unless he can go. Sure, dude, we don't care. Whatever. You know, who cares? Whatever. Yeah, you can come. So I'll never get there. And I'm meeting everybody. Like, I'm meeting all these high-level influencers. I go up, I'm taking a picture with Gary Vee. I'm watching— mind you, this is the first conference I've ever been to in my life. So I'm like, this is what it's like, right? This is totally normal that all these people that I've been seeing on YouTube and Facebook and Insta, like, now I'm shaking their hands, right? That's totally normal, right? So the cool thing is, I'll never forget it, man. I'm sitting there and I'm watching Gary Vee, and it's so funny because every time Gary would cuss, Russell would be like— it almost like Russell get hit. Gary would be like, effing this, or effing that, and Russell would be like, ah, you know? And, uh, and I'll never get across the room And all of a sudden, do you know Akbar Sheikh? Do you know him at all? Do you know the name? Sorry, do you know Akbar Sheikh at all?
Uh, absolutely. Sorry, I don't know her.
Okay, no worries, no worries. He's a, he's a friend, a mentor of mine. Back in the day, I've been following him and he happened to be there. I'm like, oh man, Akbar's here! I'm going to talk to him about being my mentor and being able to guide me because all this success is starting to happen. I need help. I'm a personal trainer. I don't know how to do all this, you know. I just build funnels. And, um, and, uh, I'll never get— I'm sitting there and I look across the room and there's Ackbar, and I pan his left, and sitting to his left is Bedros Koulian, the guy who introduced DotCom Secrets to me and started it all. It's like— and it was the most incredible thing. It was like the whole journey had gone full circle, you know what I mean? It's like, this is the path I was meant to be on. And it was just so incredible at that time. Um, we went on then. I actually set the Guinness Book of World Records. I'm in the Guinness Book of World Records with ClickFunnels for the largest ever human bubble soccer game. Those big inflatable things you run into each other with. We played 50 on 50 with all the influencers, and we set the world record for the largest ever human bubble soccer game. So then everybody— so then after that, uh, we went on to launch the next one over here with Kevin. He had a Shopify course That one took a little longer, took 6 months to hit a million. Since then, I had another client of mine that had a coaching program. It was a $10,000 coaching program. That one took about a year. That was my third 2-comma. And then my fourth 2-comma was in a course we just launched for Amazon wholesale, which we launched it and in 7 days with no paid traffic, we did $844,000 in 7 days. So my first— and this one, my first one that we launched with Kevin that set the record originally, went on to do $10 million in 18 months, and that's how I got this guy for the X Award.
2X, yeah, that's crazy.
So I got 4 2-commas and the X Award as well. Altogether in the last just over 3 years, my funnels have generated $26.4 million. So that's the story.
That number, $26.4 million, it's crazy, right? Like, a lot of people will dream about that number, but you already hit it. And bro, like, let me tell you this one thing. I'm really personally connected with the story because I see the transformation of you from going from a broke who has nothing, who was an old, uh, like fitness trainer, to someone who's already killing it in the internet entrepreneur history. Like, it's crazy stuff, right? And we really are personally emotionally connected to your story. I really like— I really learned a lot actually from personally your story because there always should be the energy. Like, I really see the energy You are super energetic, like you're completely blasting the game here. And I would like to ask you another question.
Sure.
Why funnels? Why funnels? What made you the funnel doc?
Yeah, well, it was DotCom Secrets is really that book, and then Expert Secrets was launched shortly thereafter. It's just like when I read DotCom, I'm like, website— see, when I used to be in training, whenever I'd have a new business, I'd always make a website for it. I'd go to GoDaddy, I'd make my— I love doing that. I loved building out the infrastructure. And then when I introduced the ClickFunnels, I was I was like, this is so much easier. This is great. This— and then I read— yeah, and I read DotCom Secrets and everything. I'm just like, oh my God, websites are dead, funnels are the future. And then here was my really— my, my, my thought was, if this is true, and I believe funnels are the future and websites are dead, then I need to position myself in a way that as Russell creates this world for me, then I'm able to be a part of that world. And that's what I did. I went— and that's one of the reasons why I've done everything I've done is because I knew that Russell's vision was going to be true and that he was going to change the, the face of digital marketing as we know it. If he's going to create all these people for me— he literally created an entire ecosystem for me. Not for me, you know what I mean? Like, he did everyone. Yeah, for everybody. That's what people don't realize. Like, he made ClickFunnels customers. And the great thing is, whenever you solve a problem, another one is always created. So now there's ClickFunnels customers. Well, now there's problems with ClickFunnels customers that we never had before because ClickFunnels customers didn't exist. So now I'm pulling out of the red ocean all these ClickFunnels customers, what's their problems, and making my own blue ocean out of it by solving the problems that they're now having that didn't existed before.
That's crazy. So yeah, Russell Brunson created the game-changing plan. Like, the digital marketing history is like before funnels and after funnels. The thing is already in place, right?
Yeah, dude, it's BF and AF. Before—
that makes a lot of sense.
I'm gonna put a post after this about that. That's pretty funny, dude. That's pretty funny.
We will do that after this live.
Yeah, that's for sure.
No worries regarding that. And here's a quick question for you, brother. Why do you think, like, I know you're the funnel doc, you really know much about funnels, like how the offer is going to convert, what kind of folks, what kind of stories they need to use inside a funnel. And still I see business owners who still emotionally connect with their website. What is your suggestion? Why do business people still connect with their website? Why they don't upgrade themselves for the funnel?
You know, that's a great question. It really, I think, is just like tradition, because realize it used to be back in You know, I don't know when the first internet came out. People were first— I think it was the '90s or late '90s or 2000s. People were like, you know, oh, what's the internet? I don't need a website. But then by like 2010, people would never open a business. I don't care if you're some grandma knitting at home selling it, you're still going to build a website because you have a business. And that's just the truth of it. So I think that still mindset is still there because we haven't the people haven't aged out of it. You know, we have younger generations that are understanding online, where there's a lot of people in the older generations that just understand the very basic of it to them. So it's, hey, if I have a business, I need a website. They don't understand or haven't been educated the possibility of a funnel. I think it's ignorance. It's not knowing. It really is, because once you show them a funnel, everyone's like, oh, that totally makes sense. But if you don't know, how can you change? So I think it's a, it's a factor of ignorance. Because here's the deal, I went to a big marketing conference, not super big, there's like 1,000 people there, and Billy Gene was giving a speech about ClickFunnels. He was giving a speech about YouTube, and he mentions ClickFunnels as like a source for landing pages. And he goes, okay, real quick, who knows what ClickFunnels is? And maybe 200 people out of 1,000 raised their hand, maybe, probably not even that. Then here's the best one. He's all, and how many of you people that rose your hand know how to make a profitable funnel? And it was me and one other guy on the other side of the room were the only people that wrote their hand out of 1,000 people. So that tells you how new ClickFunnels still is. When 1,000 people do— 20% know, you expect to be more—
only 0.002% actually raise their hands who knows the funnel game, right? Yeah, the phase is just starting off.
Yeah, it's still so new. That's the thing, funnels are still so new to the online world. Soon enough, within the next 2 to 5 years, it'll become the norm and websites will go away, you know, to some degree.
Definitely, completely flushed off. And you and me are like very advantageous thing. We, we are fast movers, first off, right? We should be lucky.
Like when someone said the other day, I was talking to someone You got to realize for these people, what we speak is our first language, which is funnels online. That's our language. For them, it's their second or third language. So it's like trying to learn Chinese or Japanese or something like, I don't understand it. So you have to realize we have to teach them our language.
You know, 100% true. That's super cool. And also, I've seen a lot of business people who saw Russell Brunson's webinars and who learn about funnels, they Google it, then funnel in and like, Oh, I need a funnel. And they sign up in any other funnel designing platform and they design the funnel. The one problem they face for sure in the beginning is they fail. Like funnels, everyone's first funnel will suck for sure. So what do you think they can do? Like any business owner out there who's just starting off with funnels, how can they be safe of not failing? Like what makes a funnel successful?
Right. I think one of the most common things is people get caught up in the details and realize details don't sell. So they're used to seeing like an Amazon page or something like that where it's like, My course is X modules and X amount of videos and this and that. And people don't realize that people don't buy on details. They really, they buy on transformation. What's in it for me? What am I going to get out of it? They don't care that you've got X or it does. Don't care. If it's going to solve my problem, I'll take it. If it's not going to solve my problem, move on. And I think that's the problem so often is people get caught up into, ooh, this is what it's all about, not what it does for you. And because of that, the customer's journey is lost. They don't— there's no emotional attachment. Realize, like, I think it's 80% of all sales are emotional-based, like, oh, I feel good about this, I'm going to buy it. And then the other 20 is logical, where they're like, okay, let me think about it. The stats, the numbers, the social proof, this makes sense, I will buy it. So yeah, if it's 80% emotional and your sales page is all logical, At the most, you're going to get 20% to buy. The logic people, the 80% are just like this. I don't want this.
They're leaving off. Yeah.
So you got to tie those pain points. What are they trying to solve? What, what problem is your, your product solving? What emotional change are they having? Think about where they're at now, what state they're in, and what state they want to be in once they've used or solved the problem with your product. That's how you have to think about number one problem people forget.
100%. That makes a lot of sense. A lot of business owners put out all the information on their website, just drag that and drop it into the funnel and think the funnel is ready. But no, it's not. Like, as you mentioned, that's a perfect stat. 80% of the things people who buy is always emotional. We just need to emotionally trigger them somewhere, show them pain points, how this problem can be solved by using our product and service. And that's what gives them a call to action. That's what persuades them. But people are still logical. They just show like, hey, we have XYZ product. It's so good. It's nice. Who cares? They just need their one problem which you're solving. They'll be ready with a credit card to put in, right? That makes a lot of sense actually. And bro, to create a high-converting funnel, to create a successful funnel, what are the key principles which you follow to design a successful funnel?
I mean, um, you know, it's very similar to the hook, story, offer that Russell puts out, but there's a lot of other things too. Like, you know, you need social proof, you need authority in a funnel, like You need things, um, you, you first of all, you always, the first number one thing is has to be a good headline. If it doesn't catch their attention or get them to read more, you've lost them.
You're done.
Yeah, you have to have a good headline. And then second thing, your funnel needs to sort of tell a story to some degree, like again, the journey where the guy was at, now he's here. Yeah, it needs to make sense and tie into you. Who are you? Well, I'm the Funnel Doc. This is my stuff. This is what, like, why should you believe me? You know, like, why do want to buy from me. So there has to be that. Then that's to have social proof in there, you know, showing testimonials, case studies, things like that. And then at the end, at the very end, after all that, you get to the final call to action and the details. FAQ, like, here's the number one thing. Another thing is, um, that people mess up with funnels is they don't know their avatar. If you don't know who you're selling to, how can you tell me the pain points in them? How can you put your marketing message in there to make the person go, I need that. That is me. I need that. If I don't get that, my life's not going to be the same. If your funnel doesn't do that, then you need to redefine it. It needs to read like if someone reads it, it's showing them problems. So they go, yeah, I got that problem. That's happened to me. He's talking about me. That's it. This is great. Oh, and these will make them walk through that whole process to where at the beginning they don't know about you or your product, and when they get to the end, they're a loyal customer.
They're like, yeah, they became a loyal customer.
Right, exactly.
Yeah, like me, that exactly makes a lot of sense. Like articulating the customer journey perfectly by understanding what they want to show, like literally what they want to see, the customer. We need to show them so that they'll put in the credit card. As simple as that. What people do is they just throw their Instagram, their Facebook, their YouTube, which doesn't really matter, right? We just need their lead, and then the sales process, we just need to throw them the customer journey, the transformation. That makes a super logical sense.
And also, same thing, same thing. I want to put this out too. Realize a funnel is one purpose. It's either to get leads or to make sales. And that's the other thing is people try and make it multifaceted. They'll be like, oh, here's a link to my YouTube, or here's it. I'm like, and then it becomes a website, it's no longer a funnel. So just keep that in mind that you have one problem you want to solve, one end goal. Yeah, be very focused on a funnel.
So they can't— you still— I see a lot of people who try to use funnels, they're building in ClickFunnels And they have multiple different things, like they ask for email, they ask for phone number. This is the one thing which is good, they are collecting the lead, as well as they redirect them to the social networks, which doesn't really make sense. Also some referral networks as well. It's crazy, right? And bro, like, I have this question, like, everyone is shouting the word funnel, funnel, funnel, like, because it's booming because of this COVID. Everyone is forced to get into funnels even if they're not likely to do, because they see the customers, like, the people who are already using funnels are spending more to acquire customer. Because they are using upsells, downsells to increase the average customer value. They can spend more, still they can be profitable. People who are using websites are done. They can't spend more because the average customer value is much lesser. So now people are forced to use funnel, but people have some myths inside their mind. They'll be like, oh, funnel is crazy. So what do you think are the main myths why people complicate funnels? Like, how do you think this can be removed?
Well, I think one of the number one problems is that people get caught up in this and want to hit a million when they haven't even done $10,000 yet. You know, you've got stages. So think about this, the average person out there— I know if you would have spoke to me 4 years ago and said, hey, I'm going to give you an online product or, or world that's going to make you $10,000 a month, I'd be like, oh my God, my life has changed! Please sign me up, I'll take— thank you, thank you, you know. Like, so I think we need to think about that first. Let's hit that $10K, let's get some money in your pocket so you can, you can afford stuff. So, you know, because here's the deal too, when you're you're worried about paying rent, it's hard to change the world.
You know what I mean?
So that's the thing. I think one of the main myths is that people are like, I'm gonna launch a funnel and make a million. Just be happy first starting there and then build and tweak and refine. Because that's also— very rarely is the first version of a funnel the version that hits it. Usually it's version like 3, 4, or 5, because maybe that headline you, you thought was gonna crush it sucks. Or maybe the video, or maybe you're— the way your images are laid out is crazy. I mean, there's a ton of stuff that can make a difference, but usually it's that third, fourth, or even fifth version sometimes. I've probably only launched it out— I mean, only, but you know, like 3 times, 3 times that where you're— where you had major success, where we're hitting a million within 6 months, which is the longest, which is still amazing. But I've also had funnels where we launched and we did 10 or 20 grand, which was still great, you know. They have now a system that generates 20 grand every month for them. So I think that's one of the, the myths that people need to realize is funnels are just a tool. If you do not have good skills, good product, good offer, funnels will do you no good. A funnel is just a tool. You have to have the skills to back it.
100% true. Yeah, the first variation is not the final variation which is going to kill it. Because as marketers, we know that split testing is always the key to success. We need to test different hooks, different offers, different stories, different designs, different customer journey, different stories, and all that kind of stuff. That makes a lot of sense. And brother, we talked a lot about finance and how they can improve. Like, all my internet entrepreneurs who are on this live are probably getting a lot of value because this guy is the man. He's the value bomb. You see the energy? Like, like, I'm really feeling pumped up while I'm having a conversation, but I see your face. That's something I really love to talk about. And then here's a quick question for you.
Sure.
What will be your suggestions to a 20-year-old you? Because I see you're stuck, you're broke, uh, you're not that good situation. Because I see huge transformation. You went from broke to someone who's already making like $26 million in sales, which is something insane. It's, it's so big number. So what do you suggest for yourself, for a 20-year-old you, or maybe someone who is just starting off? Everybody like me.
Yeah, for sure.
They—
you know what, it's, it's very easy. It's avoid the shiny opportunities and stay focused, because there's so many times where I'd be close to like making it, and then I'd see this— oh, this is cool, I'm going to go check this out. This would be another— oh, oh, what's over here? I'm gonna check that out. And seriously, oh, let's go down here, check this out, you know, like, and before you know it, it's, it's never success. And that was my my, my thing when I got this tattoo, I'm all in. It's like either I'm gonna really fail hard or be successful. And that would have been my thing, is like really find something and go all in and be focused on it and don't give up until you succeed. Because if you quit before you succeed, you'll never know when your success would have came. Does that make sense?
100%. That, that makes total sense. Yeah, you're saying like don't dig wide dig deep, like stay focused on one thing and see, you see your determination while you put your, you were like nothing else. I just say ClickFunnels, I'll be a funnel hacker. That's it. No other end goal. I'm not a personal trainer. I'm not a fitness trainer. I'm not anything. I'm not gonna job. I just want to be the funnel hacker. That's it. I see the determination.
So important.
That's crazy stuff. And brother, I'm very sure like after hitting $26 million in sales, after being several times on the stage with Russell Brunson and crazy guys in the game, having big mentors, you definitely have good achievements which were like aha moments for you, right? I would love to listen to your biggest achievements, what happened to you previously, and what's your next goal. Maybe you have something like, hey, I should hit that 2,x, maybe 2,c, whatever it is. What would that be?
Here's something that's going to blow everybody's mind on here. Now mind you, I got this award. We hit the— we hit the— we had the fastest 20, uh, 58, 57 days The other one got 6 months. I hit $10 million in 18 months and still after all that wondered if I was good enough. Because yeah, because here's the deal. Realize now, mind you, no one had ever said this before, but both of my— all my success was linked to Kevin David, who was a massive engine. If you know Kevin at all, if you follow Kevin David at all, you know he Massive entrepreneur. He's amazing, guys. One of my best friends. He's amazing, guys. I owe everything to him, giving me this shot. Um, but in back of my mind, I'm sitting there going, was it me or Kevin? Was it me or Kevin? And even though all the success, it wasn't until I got my third and fourth two-comma to when I'm like, you know what, it is me. I know what to do. It's not just Kevin. It's me being able to take all that energy and be able to channel it and make it successful. But as crazy as it sounds, we've done $10 million. I'd had two of these and I was still doubting myself. So for you guys that like wake up and you're like, am I good enough? Can I do it? We all, no matter what level you're at, will always doubt yourself. Realize you are— the only difference between you and those who don't succeed is they give up.
Wow, that makes a lot of sense. So even though you're super successful, in my opinion You are still doubting yourself. That's what you drive to the next level. That's what should push you to the next level. You want to hustle. I see the hustler inside you, bro. You're still young. You're still super young as a hustler.
Yeah, I mean, and that was funny because like I said, no one had ever said anything to me or ever mentioned it or anything. But in my own mind, I always wondered if I was good enough. And it wasn't until that third and fourth one when I was like, I think I know my shit. Excuse my language.
No worries, that was crazy. What was your biggest mistake on like through your whole life? Maybe you have some point which was crazy, like I know that. Yeah, I see that inside your face.
So we've had a lot of mistakes in my life getting here, but what we'll talk about, one of the mistakes I've made in the last 3 years was, um, I brought— okay, so I brought— after ClickFunnels, I got a lot of clients. I went from 4 clients to 13 clients in like 30 days, like literally it was 40 45 days. So at that time, I had one of my best friends who was also a digital marketer, super good friend of mine, really successful. A lot of people know who he is. I'm not going to say his name. And I reached out to him. I'm like, dude, I'm sort of drowning here. I've got all this— remind you, I was doing all the work. I didn't have a team yet. I'd only, you know, I had 4 clients. I could do 4 clients. So what, you know, I can handle that. 14, 13, hell no, you know. Nothing in place. And the problem is, even though I've, I've now worked— I actually worked with Daymond John, um, August of last year, you know, Shark Tank, Daymond John. Even though I'd only watched Shark Tank my entire life. So if you're having trouble with your company, what do you do? You give a percentage away, right? So I told this guy that I would give him 25% of my company to help me get out of this problem. So we start working together. He's there. I wind up paying him like— we make $100 grand while he's there. These are, mind you, these are appointments I had already set up. He had nothing to do with anything. He would still tell you this day, and nothing— these are things I closed. We did $100 grand. I paid him $25,000. I, um, he decided all of a sudden out of nowhere that he needs to go to San Diego to go to a Buddhist retreat in the mountains for a week to center himself. And I'm like, we just sold $100 grand, we have stuff to do. But I'm me, I'm like, I'm, I'm mellow. I'm like, cool dude, you do you. If you need to go take care of yourself, go take care of yourself. So while he's gone, that's easy. It's, yeah, I mean, it's sort of weird. We do all this work and now you're gonna leave for 7 days to somewhere where there's no internet? Like, oh, whatever. So anyway, while he's gone, I start reviewing his work. Now this is my fault. 2 things. A, I'd never made a contract with him, so there's nothing outlined. I'm just like, dude, you're my best friend, help me. You do this digital marketing stuff too, just come in here and help me. And secondly, I just automatically believed in his success. I didn't check him out. So while he's gone, I start looking over his work because one of our ads that he made is so bad that people are heckling, that there's like 50 comments and it's all talking crap on the ad. Like the Facebook ad is so bad that everybody's heckling it. So I start checking it. All of his ads are garbage. His funnels he's made for me— I, and again, my fault, I should have checked it, should have checked it.
I blinded it, like you blind trusted my best friend.
I put too much faith in him. We're garbage, like garbage. He basically, like, for one, we were doing one for a, um, for a dog boot. A dog boot, they wear the boots to protect their feet. He basically went in and copied their Amazon page and made it in a funnel. I'm like, how is this a funnel? Yeah, so he comes back from his retreat and I tell him, I'm like, hey guy, I don't think it's going to work out. Your work's not where I thought it was going to be. His exact words were, I'm glad you said something because if you hadn't, I was going to say something. I think we should part ways. And he kept all $25,000. That $25,000 wound up being $70,000 in losses because I wasn't able to fulfill, and we had people demand money back. I had over $30,000 in refunds I had to put back. Uh, yeah, so right there, my number one problems were no matter how good a friend is, don't trust them without paperwork. Realize no matter what, when you start putting tens of thousands— like, I literally was a moron. And because this is my best friend and I wanted to show off, I'm not gonna lie, I went to the bank and pulled cash out and gave him cash. You know, he signed for it, so we weren't totally stupid. You know, he was tracked, but still, like, I gave him cash. Like, and when you have $25,000 in your hand and someone says you need to give it back to me, it's hard to do, probably. Now, should he have? I don't know. I'm not going to get into that. Again, if I'd had written out— his reply was why he kept the money is like, you didn't have written out what my requirements were. I was the owner, so whatever money was made during that time, I'm entitled to.
Oh man, that's crazy. So sad for that. And that's a good lesson. That's a good lesson for you.
I can't say no because there was not an agreement. There was nothing outlined. So technically he's right. Does it suck? Yes. Do I feel like he still stole from me? Yes. But what am I gonna do? That's life. Do not let that happen to you. No matter what, always get it in paper. Because life gets in the way sometimes. All of a sudden, people are in a really good spot, now they're in a bad spot. And money's— money's money, man.
So 100%, that's one of the greatest lessons I've ever listened in my entire life regarding the financial situation. Everyone, internet entrepreneurs who are watching this, learn the stuff. It cost him $25,000, almost like $50,000 in losses. $75,000, crazy stuff. Yeah. So make sure never go into that situation. What are the legal agreements you're having? Make sure everything to be clear, have good partnerships, and have everything in process. Don't just blindly believe as our funnel dog did, because he learned very good lessons, right? He learned very good lessons. I'm very sure you learned a lot of stuff.
Oh, totally. I've learned a lot, man. But that's one of the things, like, you think, you know, oh, this is my friend, he'd never do it. And, and no matter what, whatever, blah blah blah, it's better safe than sorry, you know? Better safe than sorry.
It makes a lot of sense. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Like, you should have someone as an idol, like an inspiration, like someone who you, you see and you pump up like, hey, I want to be that guy, something like that, right? Who is that guy and who helped you to achieve that level of success?
I mean, um, you know, Russell of course inspires me a lot, man, seeing everything he does. I mean, and then as silly as it is, and this is sort of weird because he's a friend of mine, but like Kevin, Kevin David, has achieved amazing things and, and helped a lot of people and had a lot of success. I'm sure I'm a part of it, but he's still the, the train that drives the engine, you know, the engine drives the train. So, um, I, I admire him a lot. He's one of my good friends, but I'm— I do, I look up to him. It's crazy to say, but yeah. So, um, but yeah, something like that, you know. I, I just— I want to— my goal now is to make more impact, uh, I got two new tattoos here. This one you probably can't see. It says impact.
Wow. Impact and income.
Important things are without money you can't— and this shirt says it too— with— you can't buy happiness without— it says, it says money can't buy happiness. It says broke can't buy anything.
Anything. Yeah, it costs you zero.
Here's the thing, man, no matter how much you want to change the world, when you're broke it's really hard to do, you know? Like, it is. When you're worried about paying rent and paying your bills, it's hard to make a difference. So why don't we make a lot of money and then use it to change the world, dude?
Totally, totally makes sense. That's something insane. Yeah, like people who are broke claim that they want to change, but they, but they, they're not interested, right? People who are successful, who do the stuff, who get the money, and then they have people in Africa or people who are in sufferings and all that kind of stuff. A lot of people are donating in this COVID times as well, right? It's, it's part of the game, right? Like, they, they look for excuses. We look for desire. We look for the change. That's something we need to look forward for.
So funny, man, because, uh, it used to be back in the day before all this happened, if you would have asked— because no matter what you believe, whether you believe in heaven or reincarnate— well, maybe not reincarnation, but if you believe you disappear, whatever you believe after this, you've only got one shot at life. You know, you're here and then you're gone. Like I said, maybe not reincarnation, but other than that, you only got one shot. So it used to be, it used to be when people would ask me like, Jeff, if you died, what do you want people to say about you? And I just used to be like, that dude was a good guy and we're sorry he's gone, you know. But now because of the world we live in with video and everything we're creating, it's going to allow me to still impact and change people's lives for years. Like years. And my— it's sad to say, but like my grandmother just passed away just the other day and I'm so sorry for that. Yeah, thank you, brother. I appreciate that. It's just been a real, you know, realization that we're only here for a short amount of time, and you need to do something with your life. Whether you believe in energy or God or nothing, whatever, realize you're here for a reason, and that's to change people's lives and affect people in a positive way. And this internet thing we're on right now can allow you to do it. It can allow you to get your voice out.
People, greatest opportunity out there.
Never had a chance, so don't blow your opportunity. If you feel like you have a calling, go for it, man.
100%. We are in an era where we have the opportunity to create impact, which is gonna impact on long term. It's not like you're still dead. You're dead maybe, but still you have the videos, you have your series, whatever the thing you have, you have your content, which will still impact. Like, like we can see that books are impacting still when Napoleon Hill is gone, right? But see the impact of that thing. Now we have the video content, the courses, which can impact them even if you are gone. That impact is so important than money. I personally believe in that. We literally learned a lot of stuff in this just short 40-minute session. I really, really like the stuff. And I personally feel the energy with you, brother. Like, that's something insane. That's something.
Yeah, I love this, man. You can tell I love what I do, man. I'm very, very blessed. I'm very blessed. I think everything for what I have, man.
So that's super cool. We should have that gratitude always, brother. And Mindset Entrepreneurs, like, if they're interested inside your stuff, because you are a complete value pack. Like, you're the man. When someone needs something regarding funnels, regarding agency stuff, regarding like having that dream 100 customer concept, that kind of stuff, you're the man we should approach. So where can we find you? Where my audience can come and have a call with you? Like maybe something like that, have you as a mentor.
So one of the things now, I'm sort of doing things a little different. One of the problems I'm having with, I've been teaching and coaching people, is building out a funnel is a long process when you're teaching someone. Even my team and I used to do it, it'd be 30, 45 days to get done. And now when I coach someone, it's a long process because if you do the value ladder, you build out the lead magnet, the self-liquidating offer, your core, your high ticket, it's a long journey. One thing now is I'm actually teaching what's called the reverse value ladder, where you take whatever your gift or skill is and you start high ticket. Because look at this, if you have a course, most likely your coaching is going to be the course but a much higher level. Would you agree?
100%, right?
So why not start at the higher level? Start at even $3,000 for high-level coaching. You sell 10 of them, you just made $30,000 in your pocket. Plus you now have a coaching program that you can use everything you learn to help these people on their journey to build a course that's going to be perfected ahead of time. So it's a reverse value ladder. You see, you start at the top and start with success and money. Because think about it, that $30,000, now you can hire a funnel guy, you can pay for Facebook ads, you can buy— you have money to do stuff. Whereas if you start at the bottom, you're like, sure, I got a lot of leads, but if I don't have a product to sell them, who cares, you know? So now that one of the things I'm teaching is the reverse value ladder, starting at high ticket with teaching people one-on-one your passion and your dream and then building a course and ecosystem to support it. So if you want to reach out and learn more about that, reach out to me in Messenger. Jeffrey M. Banach is where you can find me. Reach out one-on-one, we'll talk to you about getting involved with that. Um, other than that, come to my group, Funnel Doc Group. I do tons of training in there, free stuff. So that would be the two places.
100%, that's a value group, guys. I would definitely recommend you guys go and join that group as well because this guy on the screen will provide a lot of value for free inside that group. That's going to be insane. And definitely I'll be put the group link as well as, uh, Mr. Funnel Doc's Messenger link as well. It would be crazy. This is a guy you want to looking for. Like, see the, see the reverse engineering process. You're not trying some digital stuff, you're not trying to sell random stuff, you're directly having that initial success, right? That cash, you're documenting your journey, then you're creating your course, which is something cool. You, you're doing the stuff, then you're automating the stuff. Which is super cool. That's actual process which people should follow. That makes totally sense.
Let's start with success.
Super cool. So you're not wasting any time, that boom success, because you have the guy behind your— behind the scenes who is pushing you to have that level of success. That's really insane, bro. Yeah, brother. So let's not waste time. I want you to have a last word, like something regarding any last word to our people who are on this live, maybe your last words, which you want to show good impact, because that's what your end goal is here, right? So what's your final words to this interview?
I mean, I've said it before, but I just can't harp on it or say it enough that like, times are going to get crappy, man. They're going to get bad for you before they get good. It always happens that way, because if it didn't, you wouldn't be able to appreciate it as much. If someone just hands you something, you won't appreciate free. So realize you're so close to success. You do not know it. Even if it's a year from now, to give up a year to know you're going to succeed, would you not just do it? Would you not just do it? If I told you— think about this too, do not avoid failure— if I told you, you know what, you have to fail 5 times and your 6th time you're gonna hit it, how fast would you fail? As fast as you could to get to 6, right?
Yeah. 100%.
It's okay to make mistakes. Course correct and change. When you don't make mistakes, you will not learn. Live in a— like, become more uncomfortable. Uncomfortableness causes growth. You have to push yourself and be willing to be uncomfortable because in the end you'll appreciate it more and you'll have more growth and success from it. So don't give up and just keep pushing. I know it sounds silly, I know, but trust me You know how many times I wanted to give up and quit and tell myself that I suck? It's so easy to do it. It's so easy to sit there and go, you suck, Jeff. You're not going to make it. And then go sit and play video games all day. Sure, I'll go do that. That's great. Let's play COD. Let's go play Call of Duty. But that's not— it's like you have to have the mindset shift to believe in yourself because if you don't believe in yourself, No one else will, for sure.
That's the greatest learning, bro. Like, I like— literally, this is your life, a complete story in a single word. Like, your transformation from broke to making $26 million in sales. Like, like, literally, you can go and like work at a job where you can probably make $20,000, $30,000 a year. You could be, you could be again living in that, in that loop. You can be in that cycle again. You had that choice, but you were like all in. You had the tattoo, you had that determination. So you're requesting us, our people who are watching this live, just go all in, right? Just go all in. There is no other way. Even if you fail, there is some, some light behind the scenes. Like, you can definitely hit that.
Every failure is one step closer to success, man.
100%. That makes a lot of sense. So subconsciously, you're still attracting that, you're manifesting that thing to you. So never run out of time. You always have time. You go, you learn some stuff. You got mentor like this guy, Funnel Drop. You have that, you have that value completely together, and you put all the pieces together with someone else, then you're done. You'll be rocking and rolling.
And one last thing, one last thing before we go. Um, another thing, mindset is so huge. The only difference between people that are super successful and that aren't are their mindset. So besides believing in yourself and besides pushing through, you always want to make sure that your, your mind is fresh, that you literally— the reason why I talked to Kevin, that he's so successful, is he calls it like this ludicrous belief in himself that he believes that he's going to do it no matter what. And that is the reason— as silly as it sounds, that's one of the reasons why he's been successful. Because when he fails, he's like, so what? I'm gonna be successful. This is just one stepping stone to get me there. So do not be afraid to be like ludicrously belief in yourself that you can do it. You can. Like, we are here right now to tell you you can do it.
That makes a lot of sense. Yeah, that, that makes a lot of sense. Believe, we conceive, then we achieve. As simple as that. If we don't believe, how can we achieve it, right? That, that makes a lot of sense, brother. And like, if you got time, let me know. Like, uh, my, my people do may have some questions maybe.
Sure, sure.
Like, hey guys, if you have any questions, please do put our comments down below. I would love to add them. Like, the funnel doc is going to answer your questions, whatever you have regarding offer, hook, stories, the funnel, how to design a funnel, what are the questions you have. Please put them as soon as possible because this guy is giving us value bombs, right? So come on guys, put your questions down below. The Funnel Doc is gonna answer us. Let's wait for the comments.
Yeah, it's pretty crazy that, uh, I, I mean, I think of all the stuff that's happened and like, it's, it's pretty wild. I mean, like, in the Guinness alone, just in the Guinness Book World Record, to like be able to do that like that's just crazy. You would never would have thought any of that's possible. So, um, you know, one of the things too— let's— what do we got here? Oh, he's just got—
we got a question. Yeah, here's a question for you, The Funnel Doc. Can you please recommend any book or any resources to have great success when it comes to mindset?
Okay, so, um, I'm looking at my books over here to the side here. So, uh, this one right here is really good. Let me get this this one right here.
Michael—
I think it's Michael Masterson. Yeah, Michael Masterson, Ready Aim Fire, dude.
Oh guys, know that that's a really good book, and it talks about—
the reason why it's Ready Aim Fire is because so often we're waiting for perfection, and this book will help you get over that hurdle and the things you do to be able to launch and be able to change. This is a really good book, Ready Aim Fire, really good book. Or Ready Fire.
Yeah, super cool. Everyone know that, then book out. And here, you know this guy RJ Ahmad, he has a really quick question. What do you think about the pricing for services?
I love RJ.
Yeah, you know the guy, right?
What do you think about pricing for services for funnel build? Um, I'm not sure what you mean, RJ. Um, like, yeah, here's a simple, uh, question.
I would like to explain you.
Minimum $40K for us. So I'm not sure. So it varies, you know. Yeah. But we do this, dude. $30,000 to $40,000 for this is nothing, you know.
Yeah, it's nothing. Yeah, that's a small stake. That's it, right? So yeah, it's $30,000, $40,000 is nothing. But what do you think, like, let's say me, RJ, and guys who are just starting out with ClickFunnels, who are just trying to build out funnels, want to establish their own agency like me, what do you think we should charge for funnels? Because typically there are a lot of people who are freelancers who design funnels for $50, and there are people, a couple of people, who design funnels for $5,000. And you, the guy, the funnel doc, who is the master of the game, charging $40,000 to $50,000, right? So there is a huge price variation. What we should usually charge—
how much value are you going to give in return? So if you're making like a lead funnel that's just going to get some leads, and if it converts really well, like, how much value are they going to get out of that? If I'm making a funnel and they're going to make $10,000 in 30 days, like one of my coaching students, you just had a launch and in 2 weeks they did— I think it was like just over $100,000. If you can do that type of stuff, then you should probably be able to charge at least 10%, if not 20%, of what that would be. So $10,000 or $20,000. If you launch a funnel and you only make $10,000, then probably $1,000 or $2,000, you know what I mean? So it's really—
yeah. Hello, did I lost you, sir?
What can you— hello, I'm back. Hello?
Yeah, yeah, we're back, you're back.
So like I was saying though, uh, if you got skills, you'll pay bills, so go that route. But if you're brand new starting out, then charge accordingly. You know, if you can only make a funnel and it can only make $1,000, it's going to be hard for you to charge $1,000. When you bet, you just make that, you know what I mean? So it's just, it's proportional to what you services you provide, like how much can you make for them, you know, what have you done?
100%. So we should estimate the percentage they're gonna make after that's an investment, so we should estimatedly charge that. That's super cool. And one of our user, uh, sorry, our viewer is asking a question: what is your dream job? Is that funnel designing or something else?
Living it. I'm living it right now, man. Being the Funnel Doc, it's my dream job.
