Salespeople open calls with generic self-focused pitches that kill deals. Instead, start with a personalized question like "Hey Mike, what got you here?" then ask about their goals and obstacles. End by asking for a clear yes or no commitment on the spot, not "I need more time."

The worst way to start a sales call. This statement is so simple and a very natural blunder that most salespeople use this, and this creates a roadblock between you and the sale. So if you're starting your calls with, hey man, my name is XYZ, I can help you with blah blah blah blah blah, no one cares. Everybody is always saying the same thing and you're overdoing it. Instead, copy the exact word-to-word script which I'm just giving you right now. Hey Mike, what got you here? Can we go over your current business? What would you like to achieve? What are your top 3 goals? Why are you unable to achieve them? Can I create a roadmap for you to achieve those goals? And give you a solid game plan and get an approval from the client. If they say yes, then you could say, Mr. Prospect, I'll give you the entire game plan, but I need a commitment from you. Either give me a 100% yes once you know the game plan that you want to work with me, or respectfully give me a no. I'm fine with both, but we got to make decision today. That way you could minimize the risk of I need more time objection in the future, and you can create a pattern interrupt, know the client better, and then close them with value.
