Brigid Titgemeier explains how insulin resistance and high blood glucose drive nearly all preventable chronic diseases, from cancer to Alzheimer's. High fasting glucose ranked as the fifth leading global cancer risk factor between 2010 and 2019. Nutrition and lifestyle changes can lower it, but most people lack access to the education needed to make those changes.

We also see insulin resistance and chronically high glucose levels at the root of nearly every preventable chronic disease, from heart disease, prediabetes to type 2 diabetes to cancer to autoimmune disease, and even Alzheimer's disease. From 2010 to 2019, when they looked at the largest global contributors to cancer, they found that the fifth leading cause was high fasting plasma glucose. High fasting plasma glucose can be drastically improved through nutrition and lifestyle changes, but the question is how many people are actually getting access to quality sources of education, information and coaching to help them reduce that? But if you think about that being the number five risk factor for the global burden of cancer, like wow, we really need to prioritize this in our overall health and do it sooner rather than later, because as you become more insulin resistant, it only becomes harder.
