What media right now is getting wrong is the fact that we're constantly seeking just to be regulated. Like, if people look at my Instagram and stuff like that, and they just assume that I'm sitting with my legs crossed in this meditative pose, and I've cracked the code on regulation, it's completely wrong. What we need to understand is that we want a nervous system that's flexible. So it's the ability to move between states with fluidity. And the goal is not perpetual calm, but to be really resilient in that range. Nervous system regulation is something that's trainable. I do this every day with my clients. I often need it myself because life becomes abundant sometimes. And we can do this through things like breathwork, through vagal toning practices, through sound therapy, which is an ancient ritual, somatic movement, and even like experiencing a safe relationship with ourselves.
