Insulin resistance is typically one of the earliest signs that your body is just having trouble managing blood sugar, which is an everyday task that our body is designed and equipped to do. But that system can become taxed over time when it's exposed to triggers or excessive amounts of sugar that really disrupt the process and make it harder. So I like to think of insulin as a key that really helps move glucose from your bloodstream into your cells to be able for your cells to utilize that for energy. But with insulin resistance, your cells stop responding so well to that key, and then your body has to produce more and more insulin to be able to get that blood sugar into your cells and also be able to maintain that normal range. So over time, as insulin, you know, slowly begins to rise, the levels of insulin in the body, that can contribute to a number of unfavorable symptoms. So fatigue, cravings, stubborn weight gain, especially in the midsection, inflammation, hormonal imbalances, eventually leading to prediabetes or even type 2 Diabetes.
