Hello, my name is John Notar, Director of Government affairs for issa, the worldwide Cleaning Industry Association. I hope you are excited about National Cleaning Week as I am. This is both a time to reflect on and celebrate the important role the cleaning industry and its frontline workers have and will continue to play in maintaining healthy and safe environments for everyone. 2020 changed the cleaning industry forever, but 2021 will shape its future. As the spotlight on our industry increased during the pandemic, so has the visibility and interest from policymakers and regulators. The impact of government at the federal, state and local levels on the cleaning industry has never been as evident. Questions such as Am I essential? What products are approved to kill COVID 19 have become commonplace as they speak with businesses. In addition to Issa's direct lobbying efforts, it's been the small business owners and cleaning professionals like you who are engaging in and changing the way the world views cleaning by telling the important stories and educating people about the value of cleaning. This advocacy has been critical in helping to win key legislative and regulatory battles. The voice of the cleaning industry is now actively being sought and listened to by members of Congress, governors, regulators, and even the White House. For example, just a few weeks ago, bipartisan legislation was introduced in both the Senate and House of Representatives to create a healthy and safe workplace tax credit so cleaning companies and their clients could help offset expenses such as purchasing cleaning products and services, PPE training, and more. This, however, is just the start. Now more than ever, it's important to stay up to date and engage in the legislative and regulatory process. This National Cleaning Week, I hope you will celebrate with us and sign up to become an advocate for clean. Thank you to cleantelligent for supporting National Cleaning Week and to each of you who are out there changing the way the world views cleaning, thank you.
