What's up? This is Charlie from Charisma on Command. And here is your daily charismatic tip. So yesterday I talked about how to do a diagnostic for your posture up here, holding two pencils. What I want to do today is go over the things you can do for corrective posture. How to loosen up your chest, strengthen your back and stand like this with your shoulders back, which is the issue that so many people have because we spend so much of our lives just hunched over computers, looking down at our phones like this. So the first thing you can do, and the reason that I have this ball in my hand, is because you can roll out your chest and your shoulder using a lacrosse ball. You can also use a tennis ball, but it helps to have something solid like this. So what you do is very simple. Place it against the wall at the level of your shoulder and chest and just sort of lean into it and roll out this area. You go all the way across the chest. So you have a shy and do that. You will feel it hurt. And what you want to do is you find those areas where it's painful, lean into it and roll it out slowly. And what that's going to do is going to break up a lot of the fascia that you have in here, I think is the technical term. And it's going to loosen this entire band up here, which allows you to pull your shoulders back more. Second thing you want to do is you want to lift for posture. So many people, when they go to the gym, there's two primary reasons. The first is for strength. They want to become stronger. They have an athletic goal, and they want to hit that goal. The second is because they want to look better. And they've begun to think that what that means is that they got to go, they got to do £1,000 of bench press. They got to do as much weight as possible, be bigger than the guy next to them, and then come out with these ripped biceps, pecs, and pretty much upper body. Nobody even touches the lower body. And what happens is people get completely screwed up in terms of their balance of their body because they overwork this region. And that's what makes them wind up with these shoulders that sort of hunch forward even when they're big and strong. If you want to get both of those goals, if you want to get stronger legitimately for real life strength, and if you want to get the sort of attention for being larger and more fit, actually, the way to do it is by lifting for posture. When somebody walks into a room and there's Immediately that sense like, wow, that guy must be confident or that guy must know what he's talking about, or he just looks like the man. Oftentimes it's just based on how they stand and hold themselves naturally, which is so much to do with their posture. So when you go in the gym, this is just one recommendation. Particularly for the shoulders and the upper body. Start by stretching. Even when you're going to work your back, your chest and your shoulders. So you grab onto something and you just pull it out right here and you'll feel the stretch across this band. You try to keep your abs tight so that the stretch comes all the way through here. You can stretch out your biceps as well. You put the flat of your palm against the wall, go like this, do that on both sides. And what that is going to do is that's going to loosen you up here so that when you do this one lift that is incredibly, incredibly powerful for sort of pulling your shoulders back, you will not be activating these muscles. And that lift, which I'm not going to go into here, I will link to a professional strength trainer and bodybuilder at the bottom who can really show you how to do this, is the deadlift. Open palm deadlift. Nothing is better. I've been doing this lift for, I don't know, two, three weeks and I've already noticed that my shoulders have noticeably moved back. I can notice how I feel, that I feel stronger. And truthfully, when I go out, I feel like I get more attention from people just based on the way that I stand hand. So highly, highly recommend you start with that. First, loosen this area up. Second lift for posture and then third, get those deadlifts, which I will link to below. So that is the daily tip of the day. If you want any more charismatic tips, just click, subscribe and that is all out.
