How To Stick To Your New Years Resolutions

Charlie from Charisma on Command committed to posting one YouTube video every week and explains why telling people about your goals upfront keeps you accountable. He encourages viewers to make their own resolutions early instead of waiting for January.
What's up guys? This is Charlie from Charism on Command. And this is gonna be a very quick video. I just wanted to share with you one, maybe two things. The most important one that is coming up is that I have a New Year's resolution and I'm starting it early. And the resolution is that I'm gonna make one YouTube video every single week. Now I think that I'm going to release these Mondays morning, so keep your eyes out then. But I'm not gonna commit to that right now. I want to keep this very general. There will be a new charisma breakdown, a new talking head video, a new question and answer series every single week. So look forward to that. Now the reason that I do this is because it is ridiculous and I'm so guilty of waiting to New Year's to commit to doing something that is good for you or that is right. I've been thinking about doing this since Thanksgiving, but told myself that I'd kick it off because of the holidays and all this busy stuff. And that's just a load of crap. So I'm in on this. I'm going to be doing this. I hope I see you guys in the comments, in the likes and the subscribes and the sharing and all that stuff. So very excited for this. The other thing is that this kind of ties into a lot of questions that I've been getting. I've been reading a lot about willpower and people have been asking me about how to sustain motivation, how to do the things that you want to do. And I've realized that there's areas of my life where I've actually gotten very, very strong with willpower. And there's other areas work creating these videos where I have not. And I wanted to show you what I've learned both from the good things and the bad things. So just one today that is kind of very much in line with this video. And that thing is that the number one way I have found to make myself do anything that I find important. Right? There's something in your life that maybe you're not getting done that you know you should. Whether it's studying or working out, whatever it is, that that number one thing is to publicly pre commit to doing that. And that's what I'm doing here on this video. I am making myself accountable to all of you. I am telling you that I will show up, I will be there for you once a week for the next 52 weeks to share these videos with you. So if there's something that you want to do in your life. What I recommend is take the smallest step to pre commit to it. So for me, that often looks like sending an email out to a friend of mine, right? I just did this recently. I wanted to hit the gym a little bit harder, a little bit more smartly than I had been in the past. So I reached out to a personal trainer friend of mine. So told him that I was looking for some help and asked him if he would just hold me accountable. He was nice enough to give me a whole regimen, which made me feel really, really guilty if I didn't show up. And I've stuck to that every single day for the last two, three months at this point. So the power of pre commitment is so, so powerful. So if there's anything in your life, I invite you right now. Take the smallest step towards committing yourself to doing it. Now that can be commenting right here in the YouTube comments. It can be emailing a friend or someone that you respect and want to think highly of you that you're going to do this thing. But make sure that it's a small thing you right now call someone, email, write in the comments and that you get specific. Right. I'm saying one of these per week, probably on Monday mornings though I'm not gonna commit to that part cause I don't know how the schedule is gonna work. But go ahead and do that right now. Join me in this early resolution because I think that there's no reason to wait to January to create and then drop a resolution. Start it now, start it with me at the end of December and hopefully we'll keep ours for a lot longer. Actually, scratch that. I am definitely keeping this resolution for a lot longer than everyone who normally does the January to February gym New Year's resolution. So that's it for me today. This is my little way of reaching out, holding myself accountable to you guys. I'm excited to see you in a lot more of these videos. You'll probably get a lot more talking heads videos, and if you want to see them, go ahead and subscribe right now. Until then, I'm Charlie. Take care.
