Chloe Spillane argues interview success requires absolute confidence and aggressive self-marketing. She pushes candidates to write a bold sentence like "I am fucking awesome. I excel at X" and use it as an anchor for their entire pitch, insisting you must convince yourself first before you can convince the interviewer.

If you walk into an interview and you are not convinced that you can do the job, how can you expect the interviewer to think otherwise? One of the biggest misconceptions we've been taught is that if you talk about yourself too much, you're a wanker. What I'm going to say to that though is that if we can't talk about ourselves, if we can't talk about how good we are and how fucking awesome we are at our jobs, then how are we going to get jobs? Okay, an interview is literally the place where you need to sell the shit out of yourself. How you go about that is of course positioning, strategy, having structured answers, knowing the framework to put together your self-pitch. And the self-pitch is the most important thing that you need to be able to sell yourself. If you have an interview coming up and you're worried about how you're going to sell yourself, I want you to watch this video and walk away and do one thing. You're going to write down a sentence, and that sentence is going to say, I am fucking awesome. I excel at X. Whatever that thing is, you're going to write that down. That's going to be part of your job. That's going to be part of who you are, and that's going to be your biggest selling point when you walk into that next interview. Start talking about yourself. Tell me how good you are, and then go and tell the interviewer. That's what's going to get you the job.
