Good Interview vs. Bad Interviewer #interviewprep #interviewtips #interviewtechnique

Chloe Spillane breaks down how to spot an interviewer who actually cares. Good ones read your resume beforehand and ask tailored questions. Bad ones skim it during the call, stick to stock questions, and follow a rigid rubric. The way they interview tells you what the company culture is really like.

Let's talk about the difference between an interviewer that genuinely cares about you and has a vested interest in you versus an interviewer that doesn't give a shit about you and is just doing their job. The interviewer that cares, they will have read your resume and they will ask you interesting questions. It'll sound something like this. I see that you worked on this type of project at this company. That's really interesting to me because we work on similar types of projects. Can you tell me more about that? The interviewer that doesn't give a shit won't have even read your resume. They'll have a list of stock standard questions. They'll be reading through your resume as you're talking, so they're not even actively listening. And they're just trying to quickly get up to speed with what you've done so they can look like they know what they're doing. A good interviewer won't be afraid to answer the challenging questions. So areas that you're concerned about that you want to clear up with them, they will openly talk about it because they have nothing to hide. A bad interviewer, they will probably arc up, they'll get intimidated. A good interviewer is also going to get on your level. They will know that you obviously really want this job. A bad interviewer just won't clock that. They'll just be like, I'm just here doing my job, I'm just here reading out these questions to see if they meet the scoring card out of 100 to make it to the next round. A good interviewer that actually cares will treat you more like a person. So the next time you go into an interview, look at how the interviewer treats you, how they run the interview, and that will give you direct insight into A, whether they genuinely care about you, and B, the type of company that you're going to be potentially joining.
