When I was made redundant, I put a post up on LinkedIn and I got 70 different job opportunities presented to me. 70. I'm not joking. This wasn't a fluke. This was because of the work I had done prior to this. There's 4 really important areas that I wanna highlight here. First thing was that I focused on my networking. So for about, I would say, 3 years before I got the redundancy, I was starting to build my network. The second thing was I started to engage on LinkedIn. When I was networking, I was actually nurturing those people that I was networking. It's one thing to send out 50 connection requests. It's another thing to send out 50 connection requests, follow up those requests, and then keep those connections alive. And the third thing I was doing, which seems really simple but a lot of us forget to do, was keeping my profile relevant with where I wanted to go. There were so many people who knew who I was, knew what I did, and had relevant opportunities for me. This isn't an overnight fix. This is something that you start now that you benefit from in the long run. So today's task, go and connect with 10 people, get 1 person to accept it, and then actually look after that connection. And the second thing, go and engage with some content. It's really not that hard. Start doing these things consistently, put together an actual networking strategy, and see the benefits of that in the long run.
