Something people really underestimate about showing up online as a job seeker is how simple yet effective it can really be to get a job. Now I know that's going to feel really daunting for some people and you're going, well, what the hell do I actually talk about? Here's something you can write today: this is who I am, this is the work that I do, and this is why I do this work. Boom, done. I'm going to make it really easy for you. First thing is to actually get online and make your LinkedIn profile work for you so recruiters are drawn to your profile and start reaching out to you. The second thing is to actually engage with relevant people. The more that you engage with relevant people, the more the LinkedIn algorithm will show you those people. The more you just engage with your co-workers and people at your workplace, that's the circle that you will keep yourself in. Then start engaging with their relevant content. The more you start liking content, commenting, sharing, whatever it is, of those profiles of the people that you want to be connected with that can potentially give you opportunity, the more you're going to show up in their circles and on their feeds as well. And the final thing is, is to actually start posting. Of course, there's a strategy around it to be as effective as possible and to get people reaching out to you weekly. I know this because I've been this candidate. I got to a stage where I never had to apply for a job. I literally had people hitting up my inbox on the regular, headhunting me, calling me, and bringing me opportunities. When I was made redundant, I was given 70 opportunities after putting a post online, and that was because I had consistently shown up online previously.
