In this video, career coach Chloe Spillane argues that job seekers often overlook the impact of a consistent, professional online presence. She claims that merely posting a weekly LinkedIn update about one’s work, interests, or job goals can attract the attention of recruiters, hiring managers, and companies before they even see a traditional application. Chloe backs this up with her own experience: after building an audience of about 75,000 followers, she was repeatedly headhunted and, when she was made redundant, received 70 unsolicited outreach offers. She presents this as a repeatable formula and invites viewers to join a free “Job Search Formula” masterclass by commenting “search” to receive the link.

Something people really underestimate about showing up online is that you never know who is watching. If you're in a job search right now and you are doing what everyone else is doing, looking at job ads, tailoring your application using AI, sending off the perfect resume and cover letter and just not hearing back no matter how many times you reach out to recruiters, you need to be doing something different. You need to do the thing that no one else is prepared to do. If you just start building an online presence in a professional capacity, whether that's talking about the work you do, the work you're proud of, the work you're looking for, you will have eyes on you. You will have more exposure. And you will get noticed before the thousands of other people that don't have the guts to do what you're doing. Putting yourself out there doesn't need to be some big complicated thing. It's literally about putting up a post once a week on LinkedIn talking about stuff that interests you, and the people that you want to be attracted to you, as in the companies that you want to work for, the managers that you want to have, people that you want to employ you, they're going to be drawn into your content, whatever you're talking about, because you're the right employee for them. Obviously there's strategy to this, and I've done this myself through building my online presence to over 75,000 people. Before I started my own business, I was reached to consistently. I was headhunted, and when I was made redundant, I had 70 people reach out to me with different opportunities. 70! Can you imagine if you put up a post talking about what you're doing, and because you'd been consistently showing up online, you had all these people reach out to you and say, hey, we have these kind of opportunities, does that interest you? That can happen for you. Because I want you to get the same opportunities that I did, I'm sharing my exact strategies as to how I show up online, get more exposure, and get the right eyes on me to be headhunted for those opportunities. I'm running a free masterclass on the Job Search Formula next week. Comment search and I'll send the link straight through to your inbox.
