Recruitment Processes. #hiringprocess #recruitmenttips #employeeappreciation #careercoach

Chloe Spillane argues employers who treat recruitment like they're the only option lose talent. Strong candidates interview everywhere, so companies must compete for them. A poor hiring experience damages your brand even if you fill the role quickly.

What most employers are getting wrong about the recruitment process is that they think they are the only option that that candidate is interviewing at. If that is a good candidate, it is highly likely that they are interviewing at 3 other places. So what does that mean for you? It means that you need to get off your high horse and stop thinking that people should be grateful to be getting an interview with you. You need to be thinking, okay, well, if this person is interviewing at 3 other places, how do I make sure that we are being an employer of choice for them? What do they need from us? To choose our organization over our competitor down the road. And even if you have hundreds of people interested in working for you, huge interest, and all these people coming through, and you just hire people seamlessly, if you are giving the people that you don't hire a shitty recruitment experience, they are going to A, never come back, and B, spread the word that you run terrible recruitment processes, which is then going to tarnish your employer brand in the market. And when people see your brand and your company logo and your face, they're they are not going to look at you as an employer of choice. Yes, it's an extremely tough job market at the moment, and a lot of candidates are not getting interviews, so they are really grateful when they get an opportunity to land a role. But regardless of that, you need to show them how if they invest in you, you are going to invest in them. Because if you want someone to want to work for you, they need to know that you actually give a shit about them.
