Salary Negotiations: INTERVIEW BLUEPRINT https://www.chloecareers.com/offers/99rZgkxG/checkout

Chloe Spillane teaches how to negotiate salary in interviews. Never say your number first. Ask the employer about the role's budget instead, then anchor high with research-backed figures like $130K or $150K-$160K, state it confidently, and pause to let them respond.

This is what happens when you refuse to share your salary first with the interviewer. They ask you, what are your salary expectations? You ask them, what's the budget for this role? They ask you, what salary are you looking for? You say, the roles that I'm interviewing for at the moment are sitting at around $130K, even if you're not interviewing. Does that align with your budget? Make sure you make it a high number too. They ask you, what are you looking for in a salary? You tell them, More than happy to discuss salary expectations. I'd rather get more of an understanding of the scope of the role before I tell you what salary I'm looking for. They ask you, what's your current salary? And you tell them, I'm not looking to move for anything less than $120K. Make sure you state a number that's significantly higher than the number that you're on. Obviously, you'll be doing your market research too. They ask you, what salary are you looking for? You tell them, considering what the market is paying, 'For my current role. And now that I have a full understanding of the scope of this position, combined with my experience and the skills that I bring to the role, I'd be looking at between $150K and $160K. Does that align with your budget?' What you'll soon realize is that the more you are able to push back and ask them what money they're working with, the more likely it is that you are going to walk into that next role with your highest salary yet. And there is a very, very low chance that you will have the danger of lowballing yourself. Because why would you move to a new role if you're going to get less than you're currently on? Never be afraid to ask for what you're worth. The most crucial part of this conversation is when you say your number, stop talking immediately. You've won the negotiation.
