Chloe Spillane breaks down a five-question framework for building a self-pitch: why you do the work, who you are, what you're great at, what you value and where you want to go, and what you've learned. Use it to answer "Tell me about yourself" at interviews and networking events.

If I'm being honest, if you're someone that struggles to sell yourself, you probably haven't nailed your self-pitch, and that's okay. We never really get taught these things, and I'm here to teach you that today. The self-pitch is the thing that you answer with when they ask you, tell me about yourself. It's the thing you use in the elevator pitch, and it's the thing you need at a networking event. And there's 4 things that you really need to ask yourself to start making that self-pitch. Number 1, why do you even do what you do? What got you into this work in the first place? Number 2, who are you? What are the 3 words that your coworkers describe you as? How do your friends describe you? The 3rd thing, what are you great at? And I know some people who struggle with confidence will find this really difficult, but I challenge you right now to tell me what you are really great at. The other thing that's really important to share is what is important to where you go next. In an interview, it's even more important because once you share what you value and the work you want to be a part of, if they align with that, they're going to be the right company for you. And the final thing is, what have you learned along the way? What is the overarching thing that you've learned that is inspiring you to take that next step? There are the questions you need for your self-pitch. To make it easier for you, I've put together the exact framework in the caption. Take that and give me a follow if you want to learn more about selling yourself.
