Christine breaks down three unhealthy communication styles in relationships: the Wasp (aggressive, picks fights), the Baby (vague and unclear), and the Pressure Cooker (bottling feelings until they explode). Recognizing which one you use is the first step toward healthier communication with your partner.

Hi, it's Christine here. Someone asked me, hey Christine, how to communicate healthily in a couple relationship? I'll share it in 2 videos. For this video, I'll share on communication types. There are 4 broad types of communication styles. I'll classify them into 3 fun, easy to remember unhealthy types. They are Wasp, Baby, and Pressure Cooker. And if you communicate like a wasp, you go around stinging people when you communicate. Nobody likes to be stung when you talk to them. So ouch, it hurts, and this form of communication always ends up in fights. If you communicate like a baby, you fall into the state of not being able to say what you want to say. Often having difficulty to express, like a baby, others have to guess what you're trying to say and still not get the message. If you cannot be clear in your communication, if you communicate this way, you'll feel frustrated, and you cannot go straight to the point and be clear to communicate or to convey your message, it's very suffering for you and also for the person listening to you. The most stressful communication type is the pressure cooker. You communicate like a pressure cooker, you keep everything on the inside of you and you do not say what is going on inside of you. No one knows what is the state in the cooker, is the food cooked, but you expect others to understand what is going on inside. And you get upset when others do not understand. And you often say, why do I have to tell you everything? You will feel stressed, like you are going to explode anytime. And you will also give stress to others who are talking to you too. So which communication type are you? Are you communicating in every type, or is it a combination of a few types? Or is it none of the above? If it is none of the above, you should be communicating healthily. In the next episode, I'm going to talk about part 2 of communication, Who are you when you are communicating?
