In this solo YouTube episode, Christine Wong explores what the word “relationship” truly means. She begins by citing the Oxford Dictionary definition—“the way in which two or more people are connected”—and then adds a Greek perspective that emphasizes “contact” as the establishment of communication. She further examines the Greek meaning of “communication,” describing it as the transmission of feelings, and outlines six basic emotions (happiness, sadness, fear, disgust, anger, surprise). Wong argues that many people suppress emotions, especially sadness, which blocks communication. Consequently, she posits that a genuine relationship starts with an internal relationship: first transmitting one’s own emotions to oneself, then to others. She identifies poor emotional communication as the most common cause of relationship failure. The video concludes with a call‑to‑action, inviting viewers to connect with her for a coaching session on healthy self‑communication.

What is the meaning of relationship? And if we don't first have a relationship with ourselves, how then do we have a relationship with others? Hi, my name is Christine, and today I want to talk about the word relationship. Okay, let's take a look a little bit more into definitions today. It is very important that it is the basics of the basics. Many people do not know what it really means when they say, I'm in a relationship with this person or that person. So I did some research, and you will be surprised, most of the time we don't know what we are talking about. It may sound a little like an English class, but it is life-changing. So according to the Oxford Dictionary, the word relationship means the way in which 2 or more people are connected. Or the state of being connected. And the meaning of connect is to bring together or into contact. I like the Greek definition of the word contact. It doesn't just mean being in the state or condition of touching, but also be in or establish communication. Establish means to initiate. It is an action word. So you cannot initiate communication in your cold wars or your emotional blackmails or your conflicts or your fights. And then I checked the word communication and what does it really mean. So in the Greek definition, it is to transmit feelings. Isn't it interesting? So to communicate means to transmit feelings and to allow emotions to pass through. And there are 6 basic types of emotion: happiness, sadness, fear, Disgust, anger, and surprise. How many really feel all these emotions? Most of the time we shut off our hearts, especially to sadness. How often do we allow ourselves to feel our sadness, especially things that happen to us in childhood? We need to feel, and when we don't feel, there is no communication. So to be in a relationship means first to start transmitting your own emotions to yourself, and only then you can transmit to others. It's no wonder that lack of communication is the most common reason why a relationship fails. So if you want to find out more on how to come into healthy communication with yourself, scan here to connect with me for a session. I'll see you in the next episode. Bye! Bye!
