Connor Beaton (YouTube, Dec 16, 2023) argues that AI companions and AI-generated influencers will soon (within ~3–10 years) substantially disrupt human relationships and the influencer industry. He highlights two primary disruption areas: (1) dating — people substituting real relationships with customizable AI companions; (2) influencer marketing — AI-generated personas replacing human influencers by tailoring appearance and messages to audiences. The clip ends with a prompt for viewer comments.

All right, team. I gotta say, I do not think that we as a society, as a species are talking enough about how AI companions are going to massively disrupt relationships. In the next five to 10 years, maybe even three years, you are going to start to see people creating AI models, chatbots, influencers, companions that are gonna start to disrupt two main areas in my opinion. Number one is the dating world. I think you're gonna see a tremendous amount of people start to check out and start to check in and plug in to these AI companions that they can curate and that they can tailor to their own whims and desires. And you might think that that's something that's out of a sci fi movie, but it's here and it's coming and it's only gonna get worse. And number two, you are gonna have a massive disruption in the influencer field, right? The influencer field, where people are selling stuff. People are with nothing more than bikini clad photos and, you know, quaint.
Quotes, inspirational quotes next to their, you know, their butt or their six pack. And so this is going to massively disrupt it because now you can curate the perfect looking individual for your audience and you can tailor the message and it'll be all AI generated and you no longer need to be some good looking or attractive or intelligent human being. You, you just need AI. So share your thoughts below. I'm curious to hear what you think about all this.
