This is a YouTube video titled "Create momentum — because doing the thing is what builds motivation." It contains a motivational talk or monologue focused on the concept of prioritizing momentum over motivation to overcome inner resistance and build positive habits. The speaker addresses strategies for incremental progress and habit formation. The content is a single-speaker motivational message without dialogue.
Momentum over motivation. Pursue momentum over motivation. If you are wanting to address the inner critic, the way you speak to yourself, if you're wanting to get out of sabotage habits, if you're wanting to create some direction in your life, you have to focus on developing momentum. So many of the men that I work with are fixated on trying to develop motivation. I'm not motivated to do that thing. No, of course you're not. Your brain is literally designed to move you towards patterns that you recognize. And so if you're trying to motivate yourself to go to the gym or to start journaling, to start motivated, to start meditating or doing breathwork, your brain is actively working against you because it doesn't know that pattern. It sees it as a threat. And so you'll never be motivated to go and do the thing that you ultimately know you need to do in order to create change. So you have to focus on momentum. I'm going to do this thing and incrementally do more of it. I'm going to sit down and journal for five quiet five minutes and then create some momentum and do it for 7 minutes tomorrow, and then do it for 10 minutes the next day. And you incrementally start to create some momentum. And that leads to motivation. The outcome, the success of doing the thing, the doing of the action, actually creates the motivation to do more of it. So focus on momentum instead of.
