Connor Beaton offers brief coaching on reducing anxiety by focusing on what you can influence and avoiding fixation on uncontrollable events. He advises limiting news consumption to a single daily check-in, monitoring what you consume mentally and physically, and actively creating more ease, peace, and calm in daily life.
Look at what you can influence, right? Look for the things that you can influence. Because if you are trying to fixate on things that you have no control over, it's going to cause you an immense amount of suffering and anxiety and worry and doubt and it's just going to go on and on and on.
And for the love of God, turn off the freaking news, right? Like get the once a day update. Once a day. I challenge you, subjugate yourself to once a day checking the news just for an update so that you are informed that you know it's happening. But stop watching it relentlessly. Notice what you're consuming, right? Because if you are consuming.
Really unhealthy, mentally unhealthy messages all day long, it is not going to support you, it's not going to serve you. So look at what you can control. Really look at that. What are you consuming health wise, mentally, right? News wise. Like check yourself, bring yourself back and rein yourself back in. What, like really just focus on what you can control and influence. Not control in the space of like being overbearing, but what can you do to create more ease and more peace and more calmness in your life right now?
