A short transcript excerpt from Connor Beaton's YouTube video "Embrace Mutual Standards." The speaker contrasts common emotional expectations (women wanting deep emotional connection and prioritization) with how men's sexual needs are often treated as secondary or conditional, noting men frequently feel unable to express sexual needs or face many barriers before those needs are acknowledged.

A woman says, I want to feel deeply emotionally connected and I expect my man to connect to me emotionally, understand me emotionally, prioritize me emotionally, that is a completely expected thing for a man to do. However, if a man says, I want to be known sexually, I want to be fulfilled sexually within my relationship, I want the woman that I'm with to prioritize sex in the relationship. But in general, that is the sentiment that is approached in relationship. And I see this all the time. That the men that I talk to where their needs, their expectations, their wants, their desires are something that they either feel like they can't bring into the relationship or there are a thousand miles and a thousand hoops that they think they have to walk through in order for those needs and expectations to be met. And sometimes that's communicated by the woman that they're with who's saying, all of these things have to unfold before I'm even going to engage with your expectation, before I'm even going to consider your need.
