Connor Beaton says the thing holding you back is avoidance itself. He uses a door metaphor: the transformation you need is behind the one you don't want to open. Real change isn't forced. It's surrender, walking through what scares you.

The thing that you are avoiding is the thing you need to confront. It's the thing you need to address. The door that I didn't want to open was the one that I actually needed to walk through. When in doubt, walk through the door that you know you should walk through, need to walk through, but absolutely do not want to walk through. I let change change me. I'm not trying to force change to happen. What is change as a proper force, as a kind of gravitational force in life, in existence? Change is a kind of physical truth. Change is an actual elemental force that we often stop by not going through the doors that we need to go through. Sometimes change doesn't require you to do anything more than to surrender, than to allow, than to walk through the door that is already beckoning to you.
