A brief conversational excerpt from a YouTube video (Connor Beaton) discussing preconception responsibilities. The speakers argue that preconception (what parents bring genetically and behaviorally before conception) matters and emphasize that men are responsible for roughly half of preconception outcomes; one speaker notes much of their work is persuading men to accept they are 50% of the equation and to align actions with stated intentions.

The one thing that stands out to me is this notion that everything starts preconception. We want to give our kids the best life possible, but we don't think about what we're genetically bringing to them. And I hadn't thought about that before. So I think that's quite fascinating, especially as, like, you're appealing to like the male logic very, very well.
Yeah, I would say 98% of my job is convincing men that they are 50% of the equation. Women are tired of being blamed for something that is not something solely their responsibility. A man at the beginning of the journey, they just want their partner. All things being considered, she's, let's say we're in a healthy relationship. The guy actually cares about the woman and actually wants to have a baby. Very frequently I see the very opposite of this. He says all the right things, but acts in the complete opposite to what it is that they're saying. But she wants to believe that his continues to say it, but not act accordingly. And so many times I have to say to him, I'm like, stop listening to what you're hearing and observe what you are. Same.
