A YouTube video (by Connor Beaton) arguing that spanking children is a primary cause of later domestic violence and critiquing the practice of framing social problems by gender. The speaker claims corporal punishment teaches violence as a method of correction and questions whether issues with majority-male affected populations (homelessness, suicide) should be labeled as gendered.

Most prevalent cause of domestic violence is spanking children. When you hit a child for misbehaving, you're basically teaching them that you can correct misbehavior through violence. And that is exactly what domestic violence is seen as. It's like you're correcting the misbehavior of your partner through physical violence. And that is, that is learned in childhood behaviour. So at what point does an issue become gendered? Because even the most conservative estimates tell us that one in three victims of abuse is a man. And people use that as a justification for gendered issue. And I'd be like, well, then, in that case, are we going to apply that rule for every sort of social issue, like homelessness, for example? Three in four homeless people are men. So is that a gendered issue? Is suicide a gendered issue? I really wish people would just treat the issue, not the gender.
