Junior golfers stuck in the mid-to-high 70s plateau for two reasons: they don't track stats, while elite players do. They also play too few 18-hole rounds compared to Division I athletes. Start recording data and playing more competitive rounds before changing your swing.

I think for the vast majority, especially of really good junior golfers, I'm talking a scoring average probably in the mid to high 70s, the biggest issue that they have in their process, and probably the reason that they're a little bit stalled out, is two main things. Number one, they do not keep any type of statistics on their game. Every elite player that I've talked to who's a top 50 player in their class, they're meticulous with their stats. Second thing is they don't play enough golf. All the elite players that I've talked to, that I've worked with, that I've seen go and play, especially Division I programs, they play golf all the time. They play lots and lots of 18-hole rounds of golf. And so if you're looking at your own game, you don't keep your stats, you don't play a lot of golf, I would advise changing that before you change anything else, worrying about any particular drill that you do, any swing change. Keep your numbers, play more golf.
