Junior golfers often lose strokes to strategy mistakes, not swing flaws. Wrong club selection, misread wind, and poor shot choice won't improve on the range. Diagnose the real problem, define it clearly, then fix it.

If you're a junior golfer and you want to play golf at a high level, one of the things you need to get really good at is being able to identify where problems stem from. So what do I mean by that? Well, it's very easy to go out and play golf and say, well, you know, it's just because my golf swing is not good. But the reality is, the reason that you might play bad golf a lot of the times is going to be strategic errors. You're not going to pick the right club. You're not going to understand what the wind is doing. You're not going to understand how to play a particular shot. And those are all problems that can't be solved on the driving range. You and work through that problem. You got to figure out what's going on. And you need to create a solution to that. So if you're struggling, and you're not shooting the scores you want, make sure you're clearly defining what the actual problem is.
