Connor Stirling Peterson tells junior golfers to stop predicting what score they'll shoot on each hole. Fixating on expected scores distracts you from the shot in front of you. Focus on executing each shot well, and the scores will follow.

One of the worst things you can do for yourself if you're a junior golfer is to start creating a narrative about what you're going to shoot on a particular hole or in a particular round. Reality is we're going to hit a lot of good shots, we end up just making par, and then we're going to have a lot of holes where we hit a ton of bad shots, we hit one good shot, you're going to end up making birdie. Instead of looking at the overall round and saying, oh, well, I feel like I'm playing good, or I feel like I'm playing bad, just focus on executing the individual skills and your score will end up being whatever it is. If you focused on those skills though, you'll be able to execute at a higher level. You're going to probably end up shooting a lower score than you would have if you were trying to keep track of it in your head and creating a narrative about what you're going to shoot.
