PLP Introduction - Ontario International Cohort

And I think we're recording. Hello Ontario and hello Laura Hudson. Hello plp. My name is Alec Carose and I'm a professor of educational technology and media at the University of Regina. I work at the Faculty of Education here, working primarily with pre service teachers and also graduate students who are trying to use technology better in the classroom and use it well. So I've been very lucky to have been doing this for about 10 years now and it's been a tremendous amount of fun in the last five years or so. It's been brought with it a lot of challenges. We've got a whole lot of new tools. We have of course blogs and wikis and social networking services. So in some ways technology becomes easier, but it becomes much more messy and complicated in the way that we use it. So I just wanted to say hi. I'll be connecting with you in a number of ways through the ning, through the wiki, perhaps through Skype or other ways of doing that. I'm a fairly well connected person, so I don't think you'll have a hard time finding me, but I'd like to connect with you in a lot of ways throughout this entire experience. So that's about it. From now I just wanted to say hi, basically give you a one edit, really raw sort of approach to this welcome address. The whole idea that I'm doing this from the iPhone really kind of puts us in a place of, you know, where are we today? What are the possibilities of doing something like this? Basically I can just click on this, send it to YouTube and I'm done. So it's pretty amazing where we've come thinking about even five years or 10 years ago. So that's about it.
