Change: A Short Film about Fall Foliage

Dan Mall's short film uses autumn landscapes and changing leaves as a metaphor for life transitions. Sam, Speaker B, and Speaker D reflect on parenthood, empty-nesting, and personal growth through poetic narration and cinematic imagery of fall.
Chapters
There's something magical about autumn. The hills whisper of reds, oranges and golds. Nature's way of reminding us how beautiful change can be. Our little crew, a mix of old friends and new faces, is on a mission to capture this transformation. We chase covered bridges that have seen countless seasons come and go. Waterfalls put on a show, carving through rock, determined to reshape the entire landscape. Winding mountain roads treat us to jaw dropping views around every bend. Change isn't just a nature thing, I.
Guess there's been a lot of big changes in my life recently.
I saw a lot of change, A lot of change.
A lot of change going on right now with me.
This trip isn't about leaf peeping. It's about us all trying to make sense of the changes in our own lives.
Yeah, I mean, do I have like tips? Like, I'm just figuring it out as everybody else?
I've been wrong a lot in my past and that I think has given me a greater sense of sympathy for people who are in the middle of trying to figure that out themselves as well.
Everybody talks about how difficult parenthood is, but there's a lot of good feelings associated with that, like knowing that those kids, you're the whole world and to see that that isn't going to be the case all the time, like that's what's difficult.
I think empty nester is kind of a weird. It's also like a. You're kind of finding yourself again or at least like as, you know, a parent. This, you know, just who am I?
As the sun does its grand finale over a leafy canopy, it hits me. We're not so different from these leaves. We all have the potential to transform, to show off colors we didn't even know we had. Change is part of our story. It's not something to shy away from. It's a chance to discover new pathways. That's where the real treasure comes.
And.
The growth, the beauty and the surprising twists that make our lives so rich.
Sam.
