A short YouTube talk by Dan Mall about design systems. He notes two commonly cited goals—efficiency and consistency—and emphasizes a less-discussed third benefit: providing relief to people using the system by reducing decision burden.
The answer is that if you do it poorly, then yes, but if you do it well, right. If you, if you see it as an enabler. So, you know, one of the things that I talk about is there's two main things in a design system, efficiency and consistency. But there's a third thing that, that no one really talks about. And I think that the third thing is relief. So it should provide relief to the people using or in the system to go, oh, I don't have to take care of that.
