Girl, when you're dating a guy, you need to understand that actually many of his compliments are insults. And we don't get that because many of us grew up in households where our parents didn't necessarily give us a lot of compliments. So as a dating coach for 15 years and as your fairy godbrother, I'm going to share with you some of the most common dating compliments that are actually insults and why they're insults. Okay? So if a guy calls you independent, please understand that's probably one of the biggest insults that he can call you. Because what it tells you is that he doesn't want to do anything for you because he knows that you can do it yourself. And it means he's not going to go out of his way to pursue you. He thinks that he's the prize, and he's going to want you to do everything in your masculine. If a guy calls you a strong black woman, for my black women out there, please understand that he is a weak white male, and that's the worst of the worst. Girl, no Shade, if he calls you big money, please understand that he is there to rob you. Girl.
If he says you're too good for me, believe him. It means that you're too good for him. He's literally telling you exactly what is going on, that he is not good enough for you, and I don't care who you are, you're going to have to understand that some men are not going to be on your level and some men are not going to be ready to be the man that he needs to be to be in a relationship with you. Now, if a man says, you're my piece, please understand he has a war inside of him and you need to get away as quickly as possible before you become a casualty. If he calls you cute, please understand that he does not think of you in a sexually attractive way. That's what you call your little sister, not the woman that wants to be your potential girlfriend or wife. Please understand this. Okay, so he might say, how are you still single? And some of us might take that as a compliment. Like, I'm so amazing. He thinks I'm so amazing that it's crazy that I'm single. No, girl, he's testing you. He wants to figure out, based on how you respond to that question whether you're crazy or not. It's not a compliment. So please. I know a lot of us might feel really good about some of these things that these guys are saying, but oftentimes they're not complimenting you. They're insulting you. Let me know if I've missed anything. And if you need any help with navigating men in these treacherous dating streets, book a call with me.
