Anwar White discusses whether he accepts white clients for a program centered on the black and brown experience. He explains what cultural understanding and readiness mean to him when evaluating who can participate.
Someone said, do you turn down white clients? I have some white clients, but I evaluate them on the consultation to see if they're going to be ready or not. Because my program centers the black and brown experience.
And they got to know that.
If I'm talking about the time that you got your hair permed at five years old and how that affected your, you know, your self concept and identity, you might not know what that is about. And you will need to sit down and listen. And if you are someone that can do that, then great. We want to hear from you. We want you in the program. If you feel like you can't do that, then it probably won't be a good fit for you.
