This YouTube video (Healthy Masculine Energy Pt.8, uploaded Aug 17, 2022 by Anwar White) explains how to differentiate healthy versus toxic masculine energy by observing a partner's response when you share vulnerability. The speaker advises that vulnerability—sharing feelings about past events—elicits either a protective, apologetic reaction from healthy masculine energy or dismissal, invalidation, topic-change, or self-focus from toxic masculine energy.

I want to encourage you to do that, people. The other thing that I want to share with you in terms of the healthy masculine and the toxic masculine energy, is that for you to really determine this, you have to do two things. And these are the two things that so many women actually do not do. The first thing is you gotta be vulnerable with him. You gotta share parts of yourself with him. You know why? Because when you're sharing your vulnerability, and when I say vulnerability, I'm not just talking about, oh, this happened to me, but sharing your feelings about what's happened to you, we gotta see what he does.
The healthy masculine energy going to his protector is going to be activated and he's gonna flip a switch and he's gonna be wanting to protect you and make sure you're okay. Even if something happened a long time ago. He's gonna be like, hey, I'm sorry that I have. Are you okay? Like, what's going on? The unhealthy masculine or the toxic, he's not gonna have that emotional capability. So. So he's either going to dismiss your feelings, oh, well, you're strong now. You're good now. I'm sure that didn't get you down. He's gonna dismiss your feelings, invalidate them. Or he's going to ignore what you said and bring up a new subject. Or he's gonna talk about himself. Cause he knows how to talk about himself and he knows how to redirect from something that is intimate. Right. The healthy masculine is going to want to protect you when you're being vulnerable.
