A short YouTube monologue by Anwar White (uploaded Jan 25, 2024) discussing how to assess whether a white male partner will defend and protect a Black woman from microaggressions and discriminatory treatment. The speaker gives a dating/house‑shopping anecdote showing a partner actively confronting a man who ignored the Black partner, framing protectiveness as speaking up in public contexts.
Nikki said, will white men speak up and protect black women? How can we test that?
Test that when you're dating them and how they protect you, what they say to the waiter who doesn't give you as much life as you need. Right. You know the microaggressions that happen every day. You want to see if he catches on to that and if he says something or if he justifies what other people are saying. Yeah. One time, my partner and I, when we were house shopping, the guy was looking at him and was completely ignoring me. And you know what my partner did?
He looked at the guy and he said, this is my partner and we're buying this home together. And I've noticed that you haven't been looking at him in the eye. If you're going to continue to do this, we're going to leave immediately. Don't you know that man looked at my partner and was explaining something for more than 30 seconds? And my partner's not like that. He said, we're out of here. And we peaced out. Girl, this man is protective over me. Honey.
Honey, we had to go. Honey, we had to go. We had to put our puppers on and we had to go. Sweetie, we're not giving any, any, any money to that man. That's what we're looking for with these wife white men. Advocacy, protection, okay?
