A short spoken monologue advising primarily Black and Brown women on being content in singleness. Key recommendations: rediscover childhood joys to restore play and self, learn to define and accept 'enough' (money, friendships, career), and ensure non-romantic relationships are balanced and nourishing to prepare for healthy romantic relationships.

Amma said, how to be content in singleness. I love this question so much because here's what I know. Happy people get into healthy relationships, and happy people get married in healthy marriages, right? So if you are not happy, if you're not content, you will find yourself in unhappy relationships. So. So one of the things that's really important, and I think this is especially true for black and brown women, is that you're going to need to find the little girl inside. For many of you, especially if you come from an immigrant household or you were the oldest daughter, you started having adult responsibilities when you were 12 years old. They had you clean in the house. They had you do an X, Y and Z potentially. And so part of being content is also accessing that little girl inside. So think to yourselves, what did I love to do between the ages of 8 and 12? And start doing that. I don't care if it was ballet class. I don't care if it was cheerleading. I don't care if it was playing. Dress up. Do it all, honey. Do it all. That's one thing. Number two, part of.
Being content is learning how to be satisfied. We live in a world where we always want more, more, more, more, more, right? And so learning how to be content is learning when enough is enough.
And everyone is going to have that. So, for example, you need to know how much money is enough for me.
Right? How many friends is enough for me?
Am I satisfied in this job, in this role, in this company, or do I have to try to go for the director role or the VP role or whatever level that you're in? Do I have to do that? Is that gonna make me more content?
So learning how to be satisfied is also really important. Then the other thing that I would say is.
Make sure that your other relationships are good and use those relationships as proxies to help you prepare for your romantic relationship. If you're the girl who's always calling your friends and always, like, you know, setting up different events and get togethers, you probably have imbalanced friendships. So you're gonna have imbalanced romantic relationships as well. So make sure that you're you. You can work on those relationships so that you feel, like, poured into and whole and cherished and nurtured. All very important, okay?
